Well, generally, I always feel that considering the fact I speak and write English as a 'foreign language' I don't do too bad most of the time, but this example sometimes confuses me, too.

I don't think that any one of these two will win the hair pulling contest between them, just got this feeling they both end up a sobbing mess each, and probably apologising to each other.
Every excess is fine as long as you don't overdo it.

I'd say your English is pretty good.  Frankly, it's better than many of the natives who post online.

It was a typo, I apologize! It was meant to be - lose -, it happens. English is my second language as well.

As far as the match up, I always felt that the women on the tv news are competitive by nature since I presume it is a crowed environment with people competing for air time and stories all the time.
