My takes on this set
. Again, there are some really tough ones in this set, and some where I really wanted to vote for the opponent but couldn't bring myself to do it. Some really fun match-ups in here, including matches that I think would be incredible.
Jessica Alba Vs Iggy AzaleaWinner: Iggy Azalea - I hate voting against Alba, I really do. She's one of my favorites. But I can't see her beating Iggy. Azalea is just too big and too much for the slender actress, overpowering her and eventually overwhelming her with her size and strength. Alba fights back bravely but can't handle the curvy singer, forcing a long match but still ending up short of a win. I can see Jessica really giving Iggy trouble at first, being nimbler and more flexible, frustrating the hell out of the younger singer. But in the end, after forcing Jessica onto her back, Azalea pulls her head in between her legs, forcing her to tap between her large thighs.
Miranda Kerr Vs Katy PerryWinner: Katy Perry - A lot like the first match between Alba and Azalea, this goes a similar way. I don't think Katy is quite as aggressive as Izzy but Miranda isn't as aggressive as Jessica so I think it all sorts of evens out. Miranda's just a bit too timid and despite having the height advantage, she doesn't have the size advantage over the curvier singer. Katy (while not as aggressive as Iggy) still has some fire in her and it leads her to an early advantage over the much more timid model. I could see Kerr surprising Perry and locking her long, strong legs around Perry, but I think Katy eventually breaks free. Katy eventually forces Miranda to tap, locking in a bear-hug that forces the super slim Miranda to tap before she breaks in two.
Zendaya Vs Alexis RenWinner: Alexis Ren - This one was really tough. Really tough. I barely went with Ren. Because while I had Zendaya go over Turner last week, I think Ren is a different beast. Unlike Turner, Ren seems to really focus on working out (At least it seems like it to me) and Ren's strength in condition is Turner's weakness. So while Zendaya could outlast Sophie, I don't think she can outlast Ren and the two are fairly evenly matched. But Alexis also seems like she'd be a bit stronger then Zendaya, so after a long, hair-pulling, cheek slapping brawl between the two, Ren wins a last desperation test of strength. Pinning Zendaya to the ground, Ren forces Zendaya's submission with a grapevine pin that locks Zendaya in place.
Bella Thorne Vs Rebecca FergusonWinner: Rebecca Ferguson - I hate, hate, hate voting against crazy two weeks in a row. But I am. This is another super close match-up that I could see going either way, but while I think Bella has more ferocity and speed then Ferugson, I think Bella's rage ends up being her downfall here. Unlike last week, were Beyonce was overpowering Thorne, this week she's outfought on the mental level, Ferguson seeming like a super calm and calculated foe who knows when to attack and when to bait her opponent into tiring herself out. And that's exactly what I see happening here, Bella going in without a plan, ready to wing it and win based off pure athleticism and crazy energy only to get out-dueled by someone who knows how to conserve energy, when to attack and when to defend. Eventually after a long fight, Rebecca tires out Bella in a body-scissors, Ferguson's strong legs sucking any remaining energy and fight right out of Thorne, forcing her to tap as Ferguson begins throwing shots to her head, making the young redhead give up, albeit angrily.
Kirsten Dunst Vs AnnaSopha RobbWinner: Kirsten Dunst - You all might think I'm crazy, but I almost went with AnnaSophia here haha. I really think she's underrated, not vastly because I still don't see her as too tough a competitor, but I see her having a lot of energy and tenacity that gets her by lazier, slower or more tepid or overly cautious opponents. Here though, against Dunst. It's just not enough for poor AnnaSophia. I see this fight either lasting awhile,with Dunst finally able to capture Robb and pin her to the ground or super quick, with Dunst catching an overeager AnnaSophia early, slamming her to the ground with a tackle and overwhelming her in a full body pin, Robb's face forced against Dunst's chest where she just can't escape. If it ends up being the longer fight, I see AnnaSophia peppering Dunst throughout with constant strikes, weak ones, but still. I see that constant light barrage eventually pissing off the older actress enough to the point where she captures Robb's hand and pulls her in, grabbing her in a full nelson and forcing Robb to tap after swinging her around.
Selena Gomez Vs Sara Jean UnderwoodWinner: Selena Gomez - I hesitated on this one, I know I've said that a lot in this set, but its true. I gave Sara a slim advantage just due to her fitness, but I don't think that really matters too much here. Selena's in good shape too, not quite as good, but she doesn't need to be in Underwood's modeling needed shape, which is more for looks then purpose anyway. It still helps Sara out-speed Selena at first, hitting the Latina with a series of quick kicks and slaps to start the fight. But once Selena gets a hold of her, it turns into a full out slap-fight, the two girls trading blows, no one blocking as they each unleash on each other. I can see Selena playing it a bit dirty, even if I think she'd win without, laying a knee straight into Underwood's groin, doubling the little former G4 presenter over and letting Selena lock in a standing head-scissors. From there Selena slaps the hell out of her opponents back, Sara trying to escape but unable to force Selena to break, lasting longer then Gomez would like and eventually frustrating Selena enough to give Sara one hell of a wedgie that quickly draws a submission out of the blonde.
Maya Hawke Vs Sarah HylandWinner: Maya Hawke - This one was an easier one! Feel like I haven't been able to say that too much this set, but I think Hawke wins. Now, I don't think Hawke wins as easily as expected, with Hyland realizing she can use some underhanded tactics to her young opponent, who is less likely to expect such a thing then say, Alba or Perry. Sarah aims low early, knocking Hawke onto her stomach where Hyland just unleashes with everything she has, slaps, punches and the like trying to force the young rising star down. Unfortunately, Hyland's not too strong and despite leaving Hawke with some bruises, just ends up pissing off the bigger girl, who rises up with Hyland still on her back, holding on for dear life and trying to lock in a sleeper-hold until Hawke falls straight onto her back, crushing Sarah onto the floor. Sarah's so out of it that Hawke has free range, flipping the smaller girl, stripping off her clothes in anger for the dirty trick, and choking her out in a camel clutch.
Zoey Deutch Vs Maisie WilliamsWinner: Maisie Williams - This one was also a bit easier then the others to choose, though I think it would last a little bit. Not as long as most of the other matches here, but its not a squash. Maisie overwhelms Zoey with offense early, but even though Maisie's tough and fiery and energetic, her strikes dont have a ton of power behind them. Lucky for her though, Zoey's not very tough and it's enough to get Zoey drawn back on the defensive, so much so that she inadvertently gives Maisie time to recover some energy and go back on the attack. Zoey gets a few good hits in, trying to defend herself, but after getting tripped trying to tackle Maisie, she's left on her stomach and Maisie takes full advantage, locking her arms around Zoey's protesting head and getting a sleeper-hold in. Zoey fights back, nearly getting back to her feet with Williams on her back, but Maisie's able to swing her legs and knee the back of Deutch just hard enough to force her back down, where she inevitably taps.
