A brief synopsis of the fights:
Lisa Gaye 22 vs Tina Louise 49: Lisa Gaye's hope was to use her speed go stay out of Tina's clutches while delivering punishment - a hit and doge plan. It didn't work. Tina got ahold of Lisa and it was all over for Lisa as she gave Lisa the worst beat down of this round, tied with the beating Kim Novak gave Barbara Eden. Tina got Lisa in a reverse headlock from behind and bent her over back. She pounded Lisa's belly, driving her down, only to pull her back up by the hair and repeat the process. Lisa's belly was mush by the time Tina finished Tina let Lisa collapse and finished her off with a horrendous bow and arrow.
Rhonda Fleming 29 vs Mamie Van Doren 42: Expectations were that this would be an all out catfight, romping all over the place, fast and furious as in their Yankee Pasha fight. The betting odds were that it would be close with Rhonda winning just as she did in the movie. Mamie had other ideas. Reviewers of the movie fight said that Rhonda landed the hard slaps but that Mamie was the more aggressive, continually getting up after being knocked down and climbing on Rhonda's back. Mamie took away Rhonda's advantage by slapping first and most, if not the hardest. She slapped Mamie silly and then aggressively jumped on her as before. Rhonda took a beating. Mamie just missed out of being in the top fight beat downs by 0.5%. A surprising result perhaps but not nearly as surprising as the Sophia vs Marilyn result.
Joan Collins 33 vs Ava Gardner 38: Two brunettes almost identical in size in temperment but with Joan being 11 years younger. A close fight for much of the fight. But Ava had the stronger desire to fight physically. Joan won the insult verbal battle hands down but it was Ava that made her submit and say Ava was the better woman at the end of the fight. This was the third closest fight this round.
Stella Stevens 41 vs Joi Lansing 28: Questions were raised about the relative weights listed on the fight card with claims that no way could Stella be lighter than the very thin Joi. (ed. No official weight ins are done). Joi said "It's simple. muscle is heavier than fat. I have long, sinewy muscles and she has lots of body fat. Just look at her flabby belly. I am stronger than that fat cow." Those words were probably not wise as Stella was out to prove she was a lot stronger than Joi and intended to maintain her perfect record. Stella just latched onto Joi's hair and tossed her around like a rag doll. Stella ended up with the sixth best beat down.
Yvonne Craig 37 vs Rita Hayworth 33: Someone noted that Rita had been a dancer before she became an actress. She surprised Yvonne by going for a body scissors right away. Yvonne was startled by the strength of Rita's legs and was in trouble early on. Eventually Yvonne worked her way into getting Rita between her legs and a double scissors contest ensued. It was close by eventually Yvonne's legs either prove d stronger or she had the better position. But the result was not a certainty and this was the second closest fight of the round.
Kim Novak 49 vs Barbara Eden 22: Kim has developed a reputation as being a no nonsense fighter but not one to humiliate her rival once she is in control. Her detractors say it is because she is really overrated as a fighter and is lucky to win many of her fights. Apparently Kim seems to be raising her game in anticipation of the many tough fights she knows are coming up. She didn't take it easy on sweet Barbara Eden and was even a little cruel to her after she had her helpless. Kim tied with Tina in giving the worst beat down of this round. Not something she seems to have wanted to do previously
Jane Fonda 32 vs Honor Blackman 38: The spectators weren't sure what would happen in this fight other than it would be a hard, close fight. It was Jane's youthful enthusiasm, speed, and agility (as seen later in her yoga tapes) against the more mature Honor with her judo arts skills. Jane did manage to evade Honor's judo and karate moves or go with the flow and end back up on her feet. She countered attack before Honor could recover and had Honor in a painful hold more than once. The fight was close. Honor finally managed to flip Jane down and complete her arm bar / wrist lock to make Jane cry out in pain and submit. This was the fourth closest fight this round.
Anita Ekberg 43 vs Mitzi Gaynor 30:Mitzi's fans looked forward to this fight. They knew she was underestimated and had the strength and skills to topple the big, slow Swede. Mitzi learned that you better be careful when you toppled a big, slow Swede about where she lands. If she lands on you there isn't much you can do. Once Anita had superior position on Mitzi she knew on to turn the screws and punish Mitzi's body. Anita gave Mitzi a terrible beat down and didn't miss the top five by much. Her biggest joy and humiliation of Mitzi was applying a brutal grapevine pine to prove to Mitzi that her legs were superior to Mitzi's. Some claim it was the widest spreading of legs in a grapevine that they had even seen.
