DWW retirement
« on: April 27, 2013, 02:06:29 AM »
I was thinking today about how female wrestling/catfighting has changed a lot since when I first got into it.  I got into it during the late 90's/early 00's and things were great back then.  DWW had a lot of their classic women, carolina catfights was starting out, Gia and Holly were pretty active, Ringmaster girls, tweety, barbs combative, Catfight Haven, etc were all putting out amazing stuff.  However, like all humans, people are getting older and things are phasing out (CarolinaCatfights no longer really has any new videos or live shows, Tweety is gone, Holly puts out one movie a month (if that sometimes), Gia has slowed down on video work (which I'm sure the discussion on changes in this could be a topic all it's own).

It made me think though, where have some of the girls gone?  More specifically, where did some of the DWW girls go like Barbara or Luzia?  Did they ever do matches for other sites?  Did they retire?  Honestly, they're only in their low thirties and in some cases quit when in their 20's (I think Barbara was like 26-27 when she disappeared.  I know there are countless topics about Crystal Video girls, but there is a slight difference.  The Crystal girls did fist fighting for spare money which has a shorter career expectancy, since how can you go to work with bruises and black eyes?  DWW though seemed more like a career almost with as many matches as most of the girls had and relatively unknown consequences.

I guess if people are interested, this could be topic more on all wrestlers, not just DWW girls.  But I'm just curious as to what happened to some of the wrestlers/catfighters I started with.

Yes, it was fine in DWW then, especially I remember the Ingrid vs Nicole big rivalry in all their exciting fights.

Ingrid has a new rivalry with Nicole Oring after their Wrestling match became heated in LA late last year.
Antscha, Viktoria, Orsi are still Wrestling for other producers. The Czech Catfighters are now shooting with Foxycombat and Fighting-dolls.
I do see a slow down in USA, I fear many new fans are not interested in supporting live events and video sales.  Think FreshFight is only one in USA planning live events right now. Hope that a new WWC is booked soon.
ps, heard that Luzia is not interested in fighting anymore due to having children.  She was very rear combo of looks and skills.

I really don´t like Nicole Oring very much, she looks to me almost as a travesti. The old Nicole was a beauty, sexy and skilled woman, and her fight vs Ingrid was totally epic, despite Ingrid finally sent Nicole to retirement.

Heard from a reliable source, Luzia retired after having children.  I saw Barbara's last fight.  She lost her temper and developed a real bad attitude.  She was "released" after that.  Like other producers, DWW must have tens of thousands of hours of archives that could take many years to release.

Glad to see an interesting discussion and tidbits/updates being posted by people.  I think it's really amazing when you think of all the female wrestlers who have come and gone for different companies.  Like do they still wrestle/catfight in private or do you think they just lose interest?  You know?  Like Festelle and TPC have had a ton that I've not really seen on other websites, despite an obvious love for it (like Laura Lee, Rose, or Lucy B) and then some guest wrestlers like Alexis or Lee Ann the Dark Angel.  What happened to everyone?  It's almost like after the early 2000's, most websites (except for some amazing ones like Mutiny, CatfightingAngel (even though it slowed down it's releases), VirasAptFights, Spectrum/WeBringIt, and any other awesome ones I've missed) have just disappeared.  Is it because consumer tastes are different?  Sales have slowed down?  Personal lives?  I guess I'm opening this thread up to that topic as well as what happened to so and so (because I'm curious as to what happened to my favorites I guess haha).

After the early 2000's you get the Youtube Gen that only watch videos for free and do not buy or sponsor matches. Hopefully the youngsters will start to spend the money to support producers. Seems like most the European companies now do live shows to shoot new matches and book mixed matches to make it worth the girls time.  It's sad when people do not even spend $15 to see a good match on download, I remember paying $60 for a VHS video that was not even close to being as good as some of todays matches.
