Batgirl’s greatest challenge
« on: July 18, 2022, 08:38:59 PM »
Just saw  old Batman episode with King Tut and skinny female accomplice in which as I can recall was the only one I can remember where Batgirl is defeated by another female by clubbed over the head with large vase and sent to dreamland . The series wasted so many opportunities for Batgirl to be defeated by other females other than Siren almost putting her in a trance and the evil Londinum school girl putting into paralyzed trance with a gas . So this is a unaired episode “ Batgirl’s greatest challenge “ in which Batgirl is challenged to a no hold bar street fight wrestling match with villainess wrestling Sapphire who is also a master masked thief .
Batgirl and Sapphire had battled once before when Batgirl tried to apprehend her during a robbery and got into fight Sapphire basically beat Batgirl to a pulp holding her up her chin ready to deliver the final knockout to a groggy Batgirl when Alfred sprayed something into Sapphire’s eyes and she dropped the limp Batgirl to ground and escaped while Alfred tried to revived Batgirl . Batgirl had started to notice the resemblance of the masked wrestler and Sapphire and approached her but Sapphire played coy and instead stayed in character to a last woman standing no holds barred match for charity . Batgirl accepted the match knowing that it would be a real fight and started to nervous how easily Sapphire defeated her the last time they met . The match was on pay per view and Batgirl only 5’4 and 125 pounds was no match physically for 5’11 200 pound Amazon so she had to be cunning quick and resourceful to stay a chance . Sapphire stood on the other side of the ring with a wide smirk knowing she was one blow away from putting Batgirl to dreamland last time . The match started and Sapphire came charging at Batgirl who ducked under her and delivered a solid kick to Sapphire’s jaw sending her wobbly against the ropes . Batgirl then laughed at her groggy foe enraging her even more . Batgirl would continue this for the next couple of minutes constantly using her speed and guile to avoid Sapphire but then made the fatal flaw of playing to the camera and Sapphire landed a forearm to back of Batgirl’s head instantly knocking her out . Sapphire then played to crowd picking up the limp Batgirl and ragdolling her around the ring . Sapphire even revived Batgirl by pouring water on her prone face . Slowly coming to Batgirl tried to escape but Sapphire lifted off the ground into a bearhug which had Batgirl limp in her arms . Wanting to punish Batgirl she put her in a sleeperhold and laughed as she watched Batgirl’s eyes roll to back of head and into dramland . Then in a true wrestling villainess move Sapphire picked up the limp Batgirl by the back of her cowl and unmasked her revealing the unconscious Batgirl as Barbara Gordon and slinging her OTS she dumped her into waste container outside the arena where Batgirl / Barbara Gordon remained dead to the world

I've seen now this.
I always fantasize about Batgirl defeated by some larger stronger villainess.
She has no superpowers and should be a fair fight.

I've always thought that the show missed a golden opportunity by not bringing back Linda Gaye Scott.  In the first season, she played "Moth", the moll of the Riddler.  Now, if you know Batgirl's comic book history, you know that they very first supervillain she ever faced was Killer Moth (a man).  But how wonderful would it have been if Linda had come back on the show in the third season, this time as Killer Moth, and she was a nemesis for Batgirl?  Heck, if the proposed Batgirl spin-off had been picked up, Moth could have been a recurring villainess there.

(I think it's worth pointing out that Linda rocked the shiny purple lamé suit a full year before Yvonne did, and filled it just as magnificently.)
