I estimate I’d been to about 70-80 weddings in my life. I’ve been a bridesmaid 9 times and a bride once. For a woman, your wedding day can be the best day of your life (until you realize you made a mistake
). But brides can feel a huge amount of tension. After months of planning, you hope everything goes right. Most of us have at least one relative we pray won’t do something stupid or embarrassing.
Then, there’s the wedding party. Sometimes you feel compelled to choose two bridesmaids you know don’t like each other because you value both friendships. You may even choose a bridesmaid who you can’t stand (like your soon to be sister-in-law) for the sake of family politics.
Since I was a teenager, I often heard stories of a bridesmaid sleeping with the groom the night of the rehearsal dinner. While I’m sure it’s happened, it always struck me as an urban legend. Everyone swore it was true because it happened to a friend of a friend.
