Shannon's Reddit explanation seems 95% authentic, but a few things are "off", or at least "getting lost in the fog of memory".
<1> Even setting aside the length of the fight or the skill involved, what sets that fight apart is the unbridled animosity both women displayed towards each other. There was clearly a bona fide love triangle or affair involved. Why no mention of that? What happened to the man they were fighting over?
<2> Shannon says neither woman had formal fight training, which is technically true if you mean licensed boxing or MMA. Both both had clearly been in fights before.
> They knew to wear tight-fitting clothes.
> They knew to pack their hair in the tightest possible bun.
> They knew to get off the ground before getting pinned (unless the guard position is being assumed).
> They knew to not give the other woman your back.
> They knew to kick shins.
Both grew up fighting.
<3> Although both women were still young when the fight happened, neither seems "immature", nor the type who could be enticed to fight, or do anything else involuntarily, on video for $700. (I know desperate people in need of money do desperate things--but they seem able-bodied, and there are hundreds of less painful ways to earn 7 large.) Not saying this to be judgmental or harsh: the explanation just seems "off".
Glad to hear at least one of them had a fulfilling life afterwards. But still 'makes me go hmmmm'.
