searching for a story series

Months ago - maybe a year or so - there were some stories with a "hit girl" who would beat up other women.  Does anyone remember any of the titles?

I do not recall it having anything to do with a movie.  Another way of describing the series may be to describe the main character as sort of a female version of "the Equalizer"  late 90's TV show and then a Denzel Washington movie.   Maybe she was a private investigator or something.
