Krisha Poonia recently in last month had won the GOLD Medal in Discuss throw in CWG Games.

Dani Samuels – is the last world champion.

Story Goes like this…

Dani pulled out of the Common wealth Games but now she’s seething for a showdown. Australian discus world champ Dani Samuels has issued a challenge to Krishna Poonia, who led a historical Indian 1-2-3 sweep of the event. She’s challenged her to a discuss throw duel, with a prize of $20000.

Australian media had reported that a sponsor has offered $20000 winner takes-all.

Poonia on her part is ready to take up any challenge Samuels throws at her, but only if it is before December, as she wud be resting after December. “So if Dani has any challenges in mind, it had better be before that. And it should be at a neutral venue.” She declared.

Her husband said she won’t be compromising on her Asian games participation in lieu of world Champion Dani’s challenge. “We can only commit after we are told about the date” he said.

Samuels had pulled out of the Delhi Games at the last moment & the media reports said the Australian champ is apparently hurt at Krishna’s statement that “Dani did not compete due to poor form.”

“Krishana had never said that” her husband said. He is also unhappy that Samuel’s camp wants this challenge to be held in Australia. “That would give them an advantage” he said.

Krishana threw her personal best of 63.69m in April this year. Samuels has thrown over that distance four times this year, with a personal best of 65.84m in February. The Australian, however, has not been in very good form recently.

“look at her performance in Continental Cup in September & you will know that Krishna is a better thrower in recent times. Samuels best throw in the cup was 61.43m as against Krishna’s CWG games Gold winning throw of 61.51m.”  it is been said.

Krishna had beaten Samuels in a competition in Calfornia in 2008. At the Melbourne Games in 2006, Samuels got the bronze behind India’s Seema Antil. “So she is not unbeatable. Krishna Poonia would be glad to accept the challenge.” It was reported.

Finaly on last tuesday Poonia had to open her cards about her availability of dates & venue…which she said she is ready any time in India before the Asian Games…or in Australia any time next year after Feb after she spends some quality time with family & after having some good rest after a grueling reason.

As an Indian I give my best of luck to Poonia. "All the best"

Thanks.
