Years ago, when I would go into a book and magazine store, I would go directly to the western book section, and look for books by JT Edson.  I never got into reading westerns, which is kind of strange, having grown up watching western movies and tv shows, and I still love watching them to this day.  But the western book bug never bit me.

I think I first heard about Edson from letters written by catfight fans to magazines like Nugget and Cavalier.  The catfights in Edson's books were amazing.  His descriptions of the fights made me feel like I was right there watching the women fight.  And he described them in such detail, they were extremely arousing.  I can't remember the title of the book, but I seem to recall one such fight where he described the women's bodies being intertwined like two snakes fighting.  That almost drove me crazy!

Unfortunately, I never bought any of his books.  Sorry I can't provide any titles for you.  Thanks for posting this.  It brings back some good memories.

Edson also wrote a series called "The Sheriff of Rockabye County" and Alvin Fog Texas Ranger. Also Bunduki set in Africa.  Almost all had at least one female fight.

The best is Slip Gun, Chapter 11 "Settle It Like Men", Wil Jeffreys vs Lily Shivers.

It ticks off several boxes:
-The chapter title
-Good girl vs bad girl
-Rivals since childhood
-Wil's inner thoughts in instigating the fight
-In Lily's bedroom
-Nudity
-Uninterrupted
-Long, intense, and violent (Wil suggests pre-fight that someone get a doctor)

One other note on the Western fights:  many of the fights involve fake identity stories, where the 2 opponents don't know the real identity of their opponent.  This makes for several intriguing combinations.

I always thought it was interesting that JT Edson lived and wrote in England, but he managed to capture America's wild west so vividly.  I don't know if he ever traveled to the western US.  Perhaps some of the members know??

Also, Calamity Jane is featured in several of his books.  When I lived in South Dakota in the late 70's, I visited her and her lover Wild Bill Hickock's graves in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Deadwood.  They are buried side by side.  Also, the Number 10 Saloon, where Wild Bill was shot, is still in operation.  When I was there, it was still a functioning saloon, but also a museum.  A very interesting place to visit.  I wonder how many catfights took place in that saloon in those old west days??
