AWESOME JOB!! Took a tremendous amount of work to get this tournament to the finish line - except for all the stories - but that depends on a few friends helping out with the heavy lifting...aka writing. (hint!)
Can't help but notice (and hurry to mention) that Charlize Theron's ONLY LOSS in the tournament was to the eventual champion (who went unbeaten in ANY contest - after an opening bout stumble against Katy Perry who managed to "steal a point". Pretty impressive. I expect the NEXT YEAR will see quite a few more evenly contested matches given the dearth of athletes. Perhaps a more (better?) explanation of the specific rules against grappling, wrestling to gain advantage might have made for some closer matches... although Hope Solo's "outing" appeared to have swung many of the voters toward the impression she was uniquely qualified to win either way.
Still, it was interesting and exciting to watch each and every bout....I can't wait for 2021 and hope the novel corona virus will be controlled to the point of allowing spectators in the seats once more!
Thank you!
Under normal circumstances, I would have had a more extensive ranking match, where each woman had a go at the others, but with only being able to post one poll at a time, that would take months just to get to the elimination phase. Charlize might have racked up another loss in there.
The thing I struggle with is that people are almost invariably going to check all five boxes for one contestant or another, so the margin is more in how big each category win is, and not how many categories were won. Bobbi Starr beat Keri Russell 5-0 by a GIANT margin, but only lost to Hope Solo 5-0 by a narrow margin. The only thing I can think of to combat the matches going 5-0 in one direction is to give each person fewer than 5 votes, so they can't check off all the boxes for one contestant every time, which would lead to the person they favour not winning every category with every vote. That said, a lot of people are already not voting in all five categories, so I don't know how that would work.
The only other thing I can think of is some convoluted system where the contestant who won one round would have to win the next by a wider margin, or something like that, to keep the sexfight more balanced, but that would end up negating a lot of the votes, and probably upsetting people.
The stories, I might have to limit to the upper tier matches. As I've mentioned, I've done my share of writing these exchanges via IM, and I've really burnt out on it.
