Jordyn realizes her plan to spend 2 years in Gainesville and then transfer to Princeton or Yale had a glaring hole in it: the finances. And not so much the tuition and fees, but the travel and housing. Housing costs in desirable areas, such as college towns (Princeton, NJ; New Haven, CT; even Ithaca NY) have skyrocketed during the pandemic, and Jordyn has not established a "base of operations" or a network of housemates in any of those areas. She can't afford to move to those areas, nor to stay there for two years.
She briefly considers just finishing her 4 years in Gainesville, and doing an Ivy for her Masters. But she can't stand the thought of the juxtaposition of:
Taylor, Princeton '25
Jordyn, Florida '25.
She needs to take a stab at an Ivy. By getting a lump sum settlement. From Taylor's Mom.
First, Jordyn calls her Mom Brittany. To explain her plan to her. And to ask her for a good lawyer.
> Mom. I have an important question for you. Can we talk? [Jordyn and Brittany realize it's been years since they've had an actual phone call. Texting has taken over everything.]
> Oh, hey babe, I miss you. You've been distant since .... well since the day you watched me fight Taylor's Mom. You weren't .... disappointed .... on how I did that day, were you?
> Oh, Mom, I'm sorry. No, no, no, don't even think that way. That fight was so .... raw .... so real ... I loved it. I'm sorry, I got so into school .... school here, and applying for grad school .... Mom, I lost track of time .... [Brittany muffles her choking up at her daughter's pride in her fighting effort] .... but Mom that's actually why I'm calling. Mom, I'm thinking about suing Taylor's Mom. To pay for grad school.
> For her .... assaulting me?? [Brittany is intrigued by the idea of suing .... but doesn't want to be portrayed in public .... or to Taylor's Mom's ex-husband] ... as being a victim of Taylor's Mom's aggression.
> No, Mom .... for her pressuring me to have sex with her.
> [A long pause....] Jordyn .... DID she pressure you .... to have sex with her? You were .... only alone with her during break, right? I don't understand when .... you and her had sex.
> [Jordyn rolls her eyes .... this is gonna be a long conversation .... good zhing we're not texting] Ok, Mom,..... are we talking about In Real Life [texting's 'IRL' handles this concept better] .... or are we talking The Lawsuit?
> Well, both .... it's just .... baby, I care about you .... was Taylor's Mom ever ..... 'inappropriate' with you??? Baby, I need to know.
> [Jordyn has a pinge of regret of not creating the 'inappropriate' angle before arranging for Brittany to fight Taylor's Mom .... maybe their fight would have been EVEN MORE intense.] Ok, Mom .... I was in control of the situation the whole time. How do I say this?--I was playing HER .... she never played ME .... ok? BBBUUUTTTTTT ..... because of our age difference.... that's not how it'll look to a jury.
> [Brittany feels a touch of pride at her daughter's maturity .... and deviousness ..... when did Jordyn get so .... mature??? Where did the time go?
?] Ok, babe .... but .... if this goes public .... Taylor's Mom has been a pillar of the community for so long .... the local news channel will be all over the story.....
> [Interrupts her Mom] Wwwwwaaayyyy ahead of ya, Mom. Taylor's Mom will do ANYTHING to keep this of the news .... She'll settle sssooo fast.
> Jordyn ..... how much of a settlement are you thinking? Taylor's Mom's house had terrible hurricane damage .... and the divorce set her back....
> [Interrupts again....] I 500k for housing for 2 years of undergrad and then 4 years of grad school. The lawyer will take a third, so I need a 750k settlement. If we sue for a million, she might see that as a bargain.
> [Brittany feels badly that at 20 years old, Jordyn thinks with such calculating coolness .... and so cynically.] Let me ask around for a lawyer, babe.
> I need to move fast, mom. I'm not applying for these schools .... and asking for recommendations .... if this isn't gonna happen.

One week later: a storefront attorney's office in Tampa.
Brittany waits in the lobby while Jordyn is interviewed by a young, blonde attorney names Wendy, and her paralegal. Wendy is taking notes on a legal pad.
Wendy is questioning Jordyn.
> Now, Jordyn, if at any point, this inrerview is ..... triggering .... and you need a break, just speak up, ok?
> Yes, ma'am....
> Please, call me Wendy.
> Yes, Wendy. And I won't be needing a break. I've worked thru whatever trauma I had. I want you to get what you need .... to approach Taylor's Mom. And to settle with her.
> Ok, let's get the facts, first. When .... and how .... did Taylor's Mom start approaching you?
> When her home was being repaired from Hurrican Ian damage. My Mom, Brittany, had graciously taken Taylor's Mom into our home, even tho my Mom was living with Taylor's Mom's ex-husband. I mean .... let's get real here .... how many women would be trying to build a new relationship with a partner .... and invite the partner's ex into her home? I was at UF, and Taylor's Mom started emailing, then texting, then video calling me.
> Now, had you known her before this?
> Yes, I had. I had been over her house.
> Oh, really? For what .... purpose, may I ask?
> I had a catfight with her daughter. Taylor the Younger. She's the same age as me.
> I see. You two had a catfight? [Genuinely intrigued.] Over what, may I ask.
> Taylor had allowed me to date her boyfriend for prom. When the prom got extended into an overnight beach party, I wanted to set aside any anxiety Taylor might be having that I had any intentions with her boyfriend. I thought the mature .... and safe .... thing to do would be to talk ground rules, like adults.
> But it didn't work out that way?
> It didn't. Taylor denied my request .... which I didn't feel she had any right to do. I guess neither of us had thought thru what would happen next if we couldn't come to an agreement. We're both alpha's who always get our way .... we ended up fighting over him. CATfighting over him.
> So, after this catfight .... Taylor's Mom must not have thought very fondly of you.
> Quite the opposite -- she and Taylor had been growing apart .... unlike me and MY Mom [smirks] ..... plus, I don't think she thought the boy was right for Taylor. I think her crush onme started with the catfight.
> You say Taylor's Mom had a crush on you?
> I'm certain of it. Her texts PROVE it.
> Did you save any of these texts?
> Of course.
> I'm going to need to see them.

Wendy and the paralegal let Jordyn and Brittany go home.
> Oh ..... my . ...... Gawd. The Jordyn is cool as a cucumber.
> Almost ..... sociopathic.
> Sociopathic ..... but ..... she actually put it on the line. Oh my God, a catfight over a prom date??? Would loved to be a fly on that wall.
> So.... are we taking the case?
> Even if we lose .... we still win.
> How so .... Wendy?
> [Wendy undoes her skirt and puts her hands down it, rubbing herself gently. She motions her her paralegal to do the same, which she does.] Well .... for this. The .... pleasure ... of hearing that girl spin a story. [Within 3 minutes, Wendy and her paralegal are cumming in unison.]
To be continued.....
