Given the low level of medicine at the time, it was super dangerous. It's scary to think how many such fights have ended in knocked out teeth, broken jaws, broken crooked noses, and even the death of the loser.

And what medical help was there in those time / places ?  Imagine the pain ... lasting pain and disfigurement ... these women endured ?  Fuck .... !!

I remember seeing that documentary several years ago.  It wasn't on tv here in the US as far as I know, but it was posted to the net and I can't remember where I saw it.

It's savage, brutal, and such a huge turn on!  I know that sounds aweful, but that's how I see it.  And it seems we, as a society, have come full circle.  Women now fight bare knuckles in the ring, although there are trainers and medical people standing by.  But women now fight each other with bare fists just as they did over a hundred years ago.  If you go to yt, and search for women's bare knuckle fights, you'll find quite a few.  Here's the link to an interview with a female fighter after an extremely brutal fight.  https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hlR7eOuP_Fk

I see nothing of a turn on about that disfigured girl !!  :o  If anything,  I seriously question my attraction to female fighting at all if this is what it has come to.  Hell, maybe I'll finally be 'cured' and save a bunch of money that I spend on it now , LOL , though Fighting Dolls is a far cry from this shit.

Seemed to be largely speculative.  She really didn't have a lot of documentation to back it up outside the Elizabeth Stokes.  Seems like a reasonable assumption that there would be fights there just like there are now.  I have seen a lot of catfights, and never seen any disfigurement from it.  Or even a hospital visit.  Women just aren't strong enough to do that kind of damage with bare fists.
I love catfights and chatting.  Look me up on trillian at ljack66   (I think... just figuring Trillian out)

I agree somewhat with lumberjack66, but if they use their elbows, that is a whole different story.

Locked, just to clarify, when I said it was a "turn on" for me, I was referring to the bare knuckle fighting documentary, not the more recent bare knuckle fight where the woman doing the interview looked like she had been outside in a tornado.  For the life of me, I don't see anything sexy or appealing about two women repeatedly punching each other in the face to the point that their faces are grotesquely swollen.  And I agree, if that's where female fighting is heading, it's time to find another pastime.

Agree with you .... especially that fight where both girls tore each other up throwing elbows from the start the way they did  ... I mean what the fuck was that all about ?  What the hell would make them so immune to what they were doing to each other ? Both looked like they fought with axes.

I cant believe the fight was allowed to continue to that point. Wasn't anyone there - the trainers, ref, doctors or the fighters themselves in their right minds that night ?  WTF !!
