Any Prohibited Topics?
« on: October 19, 2024, 05:13:42 AM »
Just a question out of curiosity as i noticed some stories from back in the summer that covered a controversial topic were deleted.

So i am just curious if there's any specific content restrictions on controversial topics in this platform.

From the Forum Rules post.

Quote
RED LINE RULES

1.No posting or discussion in whatever form either implicit, interpretable or vaguely linked to anything 'under 18'.
2.No defamatory or derogatory posts or comments/subject matter or race
3.No posting or discussion in whatever form relating to harm or terror being inflicted (rape, death, torture etc).
4.No intimidation, threatening, bullying/baiting of other members.
5.No flaming, spamming etc. This includes no posting the same thread over multiple forums.
6.Copyright Infringement - Sharing of members area access codes or other commercial content, without the approval of the producer / copyright owner, is a red line rule. if you do it, you will be permanently banned.

Because of this , NO VIDEO TRADING posts. These days we have to assume it is digital and can't police who is trading tapes or DVDS versus pirates.
7. No posting of private conversations anywhere on the forum or on profiles without the consent of both members involved.

If broken, these rules lead to an instant 7 day ban (with an explanation of why posted)

Yea this ik but i am talking about controversial topics that don't fall under these rules.

Something like Muslim vs Christian or Palestinian vs Israeli. I've noticed there hasn't been any posts related to these two topics in over a year and while there were 2 a few months back. It is now deleted.

That's what i am asking are posts that are related to something that is highly controversial and not under the red line rules. Are they fine to post here? Or am i gonna see something like email or msg saying the post was taken down by moderators/admins?

Those posts were deleted because the account that posted them deleted their account.

If you are scared your post will get deleted maybe rethink posting it. We don't have any sweeping rules on "controversial" topics because we would constantly be having members argue what is "controversial"  Just based in my time here the statement "Producers should be allowed to make money on their videos" is like the N word to more than a few of their customers for example.

Common courtesy dictates you should warn the reader before hand if you are dealing with something sensitive or controversial. If someone thins they are reading just another catfight story and they get a minstrel show and lynching they will react like you blindsided them. Let the reader decide if they want to read on.

So yes we will remove or warn you if we feel your story lacks artistic merit. And it will come down to what we think your motivation is .If you are trying to be edgy or make a badly concealed political diatribe your chances aren't good.

If you think real life conflicts are hot, do realize you are addressing people who may have people or know people who have been killed and may not share your view and consider you an exploitative scumbag.

And especially since you love to use AI story generators, I would stay FAR away from real life controversial issues. The chances the AI might draw some views from stuff posting by Misha Misinformationvich and friends is pretty high and get you in some deep shit. And speaking for myself, I will  not accept "I didn't write it, the AI did" as a defence.

Now reading: The Condor Years by John Dinges and also reading Christopher Priest's Deathstroke run
