HOLIDAY FAVES!!!

Ok going by store displays ... and U.S. Thaksgiving and black friday few weeks away.
WHAT are your fave Christmas or holiday movies??  Animated OR live action!!

Know It's a wonderful life mentioned.. and Christmas story.. (BTW anyone else know. They have done a Christmas Story 2??)

Few of my faves.. top of the list. National Lampoon's Christmas vacation with Chevy Chase. Some GREAT scenes, and lines.
"I used to have that metal plate in my head Clark." "Then everytime Katherine would start the microwave." "I would piss myself, and forget who I was." Randy Quaid, as cousin Eddie.
OK and being honest.. MAY not always have the quotes right, word for word. YET hope it helps remind you of the scene.

Year with out Santa Clause..  animated.. Those silly miser brothers!!  LOL

Christmas with the Kranks ... Tim Allen N Jamie Lee Curtis.  Kind of enjoys the community saving Christmas. Like It's a wonderful life.. YET in a more warped and modern way!!

How the Grinch stole christmas with Jim Carey. Also good for extra views..
THERE a few of them thrown out.. Anyone else??

The original Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim as Scrooge. "Are there no workhouses are there no prisons?" "Christmas a poor excuse to pick a mans pocket every 25th of December!"

Pauline.. see your going with the classic version.  I have jokingly stated at work. I think a new method of torture. To get someone to talk.

Is to make them sit, and watch. EVERY version of Christmas Carol, live action, and animated. Back, to back, conintuing until they talk!!

Have to admit.. think my favorite take on this. Is with Patrick Stewart. A bit of the theater actor added in.

Surprising version, was newer animated Disney. Jim Carey part of it. YET here I am thinking Hey  Disney/ Jim Carey.. This has got to be a very slapstick version.. YET was I wrong. Definately trying to stay true, to some of the darker themes and elements of Dickens classic.
Was very surprised, part of opening, with the stealing of coins. From the dead Jacob Marley, by Scrooge.

Being honest.. STILL love the Rankin and Bass early animated. Like Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer, and others.

Anyone else on your fave holiday movies??

HAVE GOT to add this!!

Ok shall we play movie trivia??  Extra points, if you can catch this one. MAY have been mentioned here before...

Actually saw this as a bumper sticker, while driving to work friday.

Hello, I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die!!

KEWL .....
OH and THANKS to the comments by MaryD, and Pauline.. Have a copy of Hidalgo.. that I will be watching. With in the week!!

So ladies ... trusting having 2 of you, give it a mention.
BTW ANYONE ever see other movie with Viggo Mortenson in it.
History of Violence??   Interested in it, yet never seen it yet.
He is kind of like a Jimmy Stewart or Harrison Ford actor. Seems to have his own charisma about him.  That helps, films he is part of.

Viggo Mortensen (deep sighs) History of Violence its a pretty good film that seems to have slipped under the radar of a lot of people. He also plays a gun fighter in the western Apaloosa alongside Ed Harris against perenial villain Jeremy Irons. He was also in a Perfect Murder with Michael Douglas.

aside from the obvious like lord of the rings, you may want to try Eastern Promises.

PAULINE ...

Here is the plan ... plug hubby into LONG war movies like Longest Day and Saving private Ryan..
THEN you sneak upstairs to have a Viggo Mortenson marathon!!   ;D  Sounds like Mary knows what she is talking about!!   ;)

Pete .. Beverly Hills Cop .. Eddie Murphy at his best!!  That and who has NOT thought how cool. It may be to just drive a semi, through parked cars like that??

OK  myself, going to let the holiday crowd dwindle first.. YET anyone happen to see the Hobbit this weekend?? Any feedback.

Know it is a long one.. so MAY need to stock some extra snacks heading in!!

If not put in before..
ADD Volcano; With Tommy lee jones to the list.  Parts of it MAY look unreal. To folks like Pauline's hubby!! (Had a few moments that myself.) Yet over all just a interesting, not the norm special effects thrill ride. With a good and talented cast.

A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey by Disney.  Just warms my heart with Christmas joy.
While you practice to get it right, I practice to never get it wrong.

HAVE got to admit.. THAT one totally surprised me. I figured at times, for it to be some of Carey's goofy/ over the top comedy style.
Yet they obviously tried doing it VERY true to Dickens writing.
When they started out, his Scrooge taking the coins from Marley's eyes. I knew this was not going to be the wacky laugh fest I thought it would be.

Lexi Little Drummer boy a great add ...  Being honest.. Love almost all those old Rankin Bass holiday ones ...
BTW did you know, they did do a sequal to Little Drummer boy??  It is part of a Dvd collection now.
Think maybe with Leprachauns Christmas Gold ... 2 others.

Nestor the long eared donkey/ Santa Clause is coming to town/ Year with out a santa clause.. those wacky miser brothers!! / Life and adventures of Santa Clause
Among them..  Anyone else.. think some of these. A must during holiday time??
