A few favourites of mine.

Gallipoli

Beaches

The Power of One

The Last Waltz

All are very different yet each manages to strike a chord without being pretentious.

Gallipoli .. which war is this based on?? Also isn't their more than one version of this?? An original and another one maybe made in the 90'S??
Have not seen it, so more info please!!

And poor aussies fighting at the other side of the world for british empire...Lots of people died during that war..

WW1, the coming of age of Australia as the Anzacs are sent to fight the turks.
Has a young Mel Gibson in it as a supporting actor.

"Two Australian sprinters face the brutal realities of war when they are sent to fight in the Gallipoli campaign in Turkey during World War I."

The Hobbit !!

Yep saw it tonight finally ...  YES it is part of trilogy.. so has a stopping point. You have to wait for the next movie to pick up.

Will NOT give any spoilers.. other than you do see some familiar faces. From the recent trilogy.. in fact opening ties nicely into that.

I will say,, it is very impressive. Some of the scenery or settings are amazing. Trying to tell which is actual, and which is special effects. Not as easy, as the old Sinbad the sailor movies. I still watch now and then.
Such clear images, and so vibrant at times. Almost seems to pull you into the landscape or action.

Needless to say.. Probably will catch 1 more time in the theater. Yes I will buy it on dvd when time. Plus I will for sure, see the next one, if at all possible. When part 2 hits the theaters.

Lets start from the bible I mean From Russia with love
Then follows Scarface , all the Ocean 11 movies because lots of movies stars and very clever script,a scifi epic Dune by David Lunch, all LOTR,STAR WARS,STAR TREK
movies remind me my childhood, loved the last FAST and FURIUS 5 film
and of course AVATAR especially on 3d is amazing.
Last but not least KILL BILL 1,2  8)

Nice diverse group .. BTW  NEW Star Trek movie  supposed to be out this summer... saw small trailer.. Did not reveal much.. yet looked interesting.  This going off the most recent younger/ in time cast of course.

With the Star Trek .... you have to admit... It has got to be almost impossible. Trying to do a story setting.. BEFORE almost all the series or original movies have taken place.  To try and not mess with continuity or things that happened in them.

Think that was one of the same problems the Enterprise series with Scott Bakula had. Think someone even got ticked it did something. That went against facts given in the old animated series.
I probably will enjoy this movie. Yet I am not the rabid, have to know every fact, and speak Klingonese trekkie fan.

Avatar?  I don't know, I liked it the first time I saw it when it was called Dances with Wolves

But personally I would say that the movie I love to watch over and over again would be the Princess Bride. When Peter Falk says his "as you wish" line at the end, it always makes me a bit teary eyed, have to confess.  Inconceivable!!!

MARCI welcome to the growing Princess Bride fan group here... Nice to see through this thread. That is mentioned often. Have to go now ... StarBear is getting ready to push me down the hill again!!  LOL

You know Raker .... If your name was Sam.  THAT would work great liking to watch another of Bogarts classics  Casablanca as much.
Then it would just be play it again Sam!!

I have to say. I wonder just how many times now. Peter Lorre's character has been mimicked from Maltese Falcon by now??  Nice group of classics.

EXPAND this out a little ....

First   Previews N sequals ....  See any trailers or know of any coming out soon. That look good to you, true to character??
Maybe sharing it here. Will let a fan know it is heading to theaters soon.
Still waiting to see something for the upcoming NEW Die Hard movie.
BTW add those to some of my fave, watched more than once movies!!

Have seen a NEW version of Lone Ranger  is due out this summer.. WITH Johhny Depp .. AS Usual in full makeup.. As Tonto. Not sure if this is going to be comical take on it or serious from trailer scene with Depp. Seems to have Tonto almost looking like a mystic or medicine man.

ALSO    Fave lines from a movie ....  Leave it here ... See if any other members also fans, and can name the movie!!
STARTING with an easy one....
If you can dodge a wrench. You can dodge a ball!!  THUNK!!!   LOL

Ok another fave.. not sure mentioned before...

Diggstown  With James Woods, Louis Gosset Jr, and Bruce Dern.  As well as some other well known faces.. Including that very pretty Heather Graham.
Not everyones kind of movie maybe.. YET  very nice bit of con gaming going on. From start to finish. They have the 2 sides going back and forth. Just when you think one side has it locked up. The other pulls a fast one.
Some good humor mixed in as well.
Con man Vs Hustler ... as aging boxer is set to fight the small towns best boxers all in one night.

Movie line from something else..
Where is your hand?  Between these two pillows .....  "Those aren't pillows!!"  (Kind of a guys/ buddy road trip comedy film.)

FEW fave movie lines.. some of them classic...  Can you name the movies??

The Duke leads the league in hit batsmen. Why I even heard he threw at his own kid. In a father son game.

Surely you can't be serious??  I am serious, and stop calling me Shirley!!

Hello my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die.

You come back through that door. I'm going to hit you with so many rights. You will beg for a left.

Any ideas... can you name them all??
