Another from the Michelle Archives......and what may be the last......

Today we have a classic.....and one that if you can't feel yourself move to at any age.....please go see a doctor :)

Its from 1979 .......from Sister Sledge.....and...."We Are Family"....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMVe_HcyP9Y

It was #1 in 1979 on the R&B charts and just about everything else......somehow it became the unofficial theme song for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball tam who won the World Series behind that song in 1979.  Its also featured in the movie..."The Bird Cage"...in 1996...with Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Gene Hackman...which is maybe one of the funniest movies I have ever scene and I just did a few months ago.

So here we go.....from 1979...its Sister Sledge .....and "We Are Family"....

Anyone care to dance?

Another from the Michelle Archives..

This one is a classic from way back.....its from a band called Jethro Tull...and the song is....'Living in the Past"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VjPPuias1k

"Living in the Past" is the title of one of British progressive rock group Jethro Tull's best-known songs. It is notable for being written in the unusual 5/4 time signature. The 5/4 time signature is quickly noted from the beginning rhythmic bass pattern for all you musicians :)

The song was originally recorded during sessions for Tull's 1969 album Stand Up, but not included on the album, and released in the same year as a stand-alone single. However, it became more popular after its 1972 release on Tull's compilation album, also called Living in the Past. After its release on the album, it became the band's first Top 20 hit in the US, peaking at #11. The song was restored as a "bonus track" for the 2001 CD reissue of Stand Up (1969).

So....here we go......its Jethro Trull.....and....."Living in the Past"......enjoy :)

From the Michelle Archives......

This one will drive a few crazy....but it was a favorite of my fathers........its by Patsy Cline......and its called...."Sweet Dreams"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b35SkJdDGV4

Most of you never heard of Patsy Cline.....she was a country singer who would occasionally cross into pop......but always country at heart and still ranks as one of the greatest of all time....a lady who died way before her time...with a voice that never fails to knock me over

She still has.....in my opinion....the most beautiful voice I think I have ever heard.  This song was written by Don Gibson in 1956....and Cline originally wanted nothing to do with it.  She felt strongly she didn't have the voice......the range for it...which when you hear it....is amazing she could think that.   But that was Cline.....she was intensely loyal to her fans and she also felt it wasn't "country" enough.   She also hated backup singers so for this recording they were toned back...just for Patsy.  Cline's life...as some know...seemed to always hit bumps in the road....some would even call tragic....but she never gave in.....never quit.....I guess that is why I personally....while having never seen her other than in old videos.....have so much respect for her.

The irony of this song.....is that it was not released until after her death in a tragic plane crash with her manager Randy Hughes and a few others just outside of Camden, Tennessee on March 5 1963.  Her legacy still stands tall today.....her voice distinctive....hauntingly beautiful

So....here we go.........its the late great Patsy Cline.......and "Sweet Dreams".......this is for my late father Rance....this one's for you Dad
