Another from the Michelle Archives...

Another from my fav guy.....Chris Isaak and his band......its called...."Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing"....and it rocks...

"Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing" is a song by American rock and roll artist Chris Isaak, released as the first track to the 1995 album "Forever Blue". The song was later featured in the 1999 Stanley Kubrick film "Eyes Wide Shut", starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. It peaked at #9 in September 1999 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, although it was only #27 when it was originally released in 1996.  The soundtrack for the film featured a remixed version of the song. The song was also used at the beginning of the Cold Case episode "Dog Day Afternoons", as well as the end of the CSI: Miami episode "Curse Of The Coffin". It was also used in the trailer for the film "Sorority Row".

The music video of the song was directed by Herb Ritts. It features French model Laetitia Casta videotaped in a motel room gyrating sexually being watched by Isaak. Casta was dressed in lingerie and wore a black wig throughout the video. In July 1999, VH1 aired two versions of the music video, the censored version was played before 9 p.m. and the uncensored version was played after 9 p.m. The video was initially regarded as too steamy by the network. The video was ranked #28 on VH1's 50 Sexiest Video Moments.

I really like BABY DID A BAD, BAD THING.  Laetitia Casta ain't bad, either.   ;)

Today I've been listening to the Gin Blossoms.  Here's one of my favorites from them, first issued on the soundtrack to "Empire Records" in 1995.  It just missed the top ten, stopping at #11 on the mainstream charts.  It did, however, make the top 5 on the Modern Rock, Mainstream Rock, Adult Pop and Mainstream Top 40 charts, as well as making the UK Top 40, and as such is one of the group's most successful songs.  An excellent example of 90's mainstream jangly pop/rock, here's the Gin Blossoms with "Til I Hear It From You":

Another from the Michelle Archives...

Its one of the most truly beautiful songs I have ever heard....its from 1986 and its by "Heart"...and its called......"These Dreams"...

"These Dreams" was released in 1986 from their 1985 self-titled album. It was the first song by the band to become a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1985 Martin Page (who co-wrote several other pop hits, including "We Built This City" and "King of Wishful Thinking") and Bernie Taupin (longtime collaborator of Elton John) wrote the music and lyrics to the song now known as "These Dreams".   At the time, Page and Taupin were under contract to Columbia Records and the record company offered the song to Stevie Nicks, who expressed no interest in recording it.   Heart had just recently signed with Capitol Records. While the band had previously recorded their own material, they were impressed by "These Dreams" and agreed to use it on their upcoming album.
"These Dreams" differed from preceding Heart songs in which it was a polished, power ballad. The song also marked the first Heart single on which lead vocals were performed by Nancy Wilson instead of Ann Wilson. According to The Billboard Book of Number One Hits by Fred Bronson, when it came time for Nancy Wilson to record her vocal, she was suffering from a cold and her voice sounded somewhat raspy and gravelly. After the song reached its peak of success, producers reportedly wanted Nancy to recreate the gravelly sound on future recordings, asking her, "Can't you just get sick again?  Another great song.....with a great story behind it :)

The song was dedicated (on the album) to Nancy Wilson's good friend Sharon Hess (May 28, 1963 - March 16, 1985), who died from leukemia shortly before the song was released.  The lyrics of the song describe the fantasy world a person enters when faced with a difficult situation in real life.

The lyrics of the song describe a woman who is within a world of fantasy that occurs every time she falls asleep, a world where what is and what isn't cannot always be determined, "every second of the night, I live another life." She speaks of wishing to "hide away from the pain," but it is uncertain whether she wants to live in the dream world to hide away from the pain of the real world, or wants to go back to the real world to hide from the pain of the dream world.  To say this song has no special meaning to me would be a lie......those who know me know this last part means so much to me :)

So here we go!!.......the song that helped get my love for music going as a little girl.......its from 1986.......from "Heart".........
...its........"These Dreams"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFkPoUnTwbU

"These dreams go on when I close my eyes
Every second of the night I live another life
These dreams that sleep when it's cold outside
Every moment I'm awake the further I'm away
(Further I'm away)"

I could dedicate this......but she knows who she is...thank you love...:)

Its from the great!....Van Halen.....and they are only great with David Lee Roth!!.......not that fraud Sammy Hagar!!

Its Van Halen....and one of my personal favorites of theirs......."When Its Love"......

"When It's Love" was recorded and released as a single from their album "OU812". It was the most popular song from that album, hitting #1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks charts and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  The song has been a live performance staple since it was released in 1988.  The song was also included in the set list for the band's ill-fated 1998 tour with Gary Cherone.  Eddie has stated that this particular guitar solo is a nod to Eric Clapton.
It was featured on a VH1 special, "The Greatest: 25 Greatest Power Ballads," where it was ranked as the 24th greatest power ballad of all time.

So here we go!!...from 1988!......its the great!....Van Halen.......and....."When It's Love"....

I loved the "I'm The Man" EP.  It was brilliant to have the song get raunchier (and funnier) with each version that plays.

This one is another from the great......"Van Halen"....its from 1979 and it was their first top 20 hit.....its...."Dance The Night Away"....

"Dance the Night Away" was Van Halen's first top 20 U.S. hit, peaking at #15, and the second song from their 1979 album "Van Halen II". While the rest of the songs from this album had existed in various forms since their days doing demos and playing clubs, this song was possibly the only song written during the recording sessions for the album. The band members conceived the song during the recording sessions while they were standing in a circle humming to each other. It was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way". Eddie Van Halen purposely left a guitar solo out of the final version of the song, replacing it instead with a riff of tap harmonics. David Lee Roth originally wanted to call the song "Dance Lolita Dance", but Eddie convinced him that "Dance the Night Away" was more suitable and the chorus was changed to reflect that.

Roth claimed, during a 2006 performance in San Diego, California, that he wrote this song in tribute to an intoxicated woman who was having sex in the back of a truck and ran with her pants on backwards while escaping police officers into the bar where the fledgling band was playing. This was also mentioned at a 2006 performance in Detroit, Michigan.

SO here we go......from 1979 and the great.....Van Halen......its...."Dance The Night Away"......

For anyone like me who simply loves to dance........the night way that is :)

A replay from Michelle's Archives....

A one hit wonder...but a classic......from 1978 and a group called..."Snif N The Tears".....and its....."Drivers Seat"

You've heard it before...you wondered....what is that?...where can I find it?.....

This song is the one I learned to play my Fretlight Guitar on.....and features some of the best guitar work I have ever heard

"Driver's Seat" is a 1978 song by the British band Sniff 'n' the Tears that appears on their debut album, Fickle Heart. The band is considered a one-hit wonder as "Driver's Seat" was their only hit.
The genesis of the song dates back to 1973 and a demo tape recorded for a French record label by singer/guitarist Paul Roberts for the band Ashes of Moon. However, that band broke up and, at the suggestion of drummer Luigi Salvoni, Roberts re-formed it as Sniff 'n' the Tears with guitarists Laurence "Loz" Netto and Mick Dyche and bassist Nick South. They shopped the demo tape and signed with the small Chiswick label in 1977.
According to Paul Roberts, "Driver's Seat" isn't about driving, but rather "fragmented, conflicting thoughts and emotions that might follow the break-up of a relationship". One of the key decisions made in recording the song was to start with Roberts' acoustic guitar and drums and gradually fade in other instruments.
"Driver's Seat" reached #15 on the American Billboard Pop Singles chart in the fall of 1979, and reached the top 10 in The Netherlands in November 1980. It reappeared at #1 on the Dutch Top 40 eleven years later as a result of use of the song in a Pioneer commercial.

So here we goo!!...from 1978....and the group..."Snif N The Tears"....its........."Drivers Seat"....

My favorite part is the wonderful guitar wail of lead guitar Mick Dyche....one of the best and my personal guitar hero...

Another from the Michelle Archives

from one of my favorite artists...Chris Isaak.....from 1995 and its........"Somebody's Crying"

This song is one of Chris's more popular songs and for good reason. It has Isaak's signature feel to it that include some higher notes along with smooth guitar work and a great beat. Once again, it feels like a happy song when you listen to the music, but they lyrics are just heart-breaking. A classic Chris Isaak track that gets to me every time...

From his fifth album, "Forever Blue". The song was released as the album's first single in May 1995.   It also appears on his 2006 Best of Chris Isaak compilation. A live version is included on Isaak's 2008 Live in Australia album.

Isaak wrote the song shortly after a breakup with his girlfriend.  Isaak had attended a friend's party, but soon realized that he did not want to be there.   He went inside a walk-in closet, closed the door, grabbed a guitar that was leaning against the back wall, and wrote "Somebody's Crying."

Lyrically, the song describes one's yearning for a former lover, and the fear of communicating again with that person.  In a 1995 interview, Isaak compared the lyrics to a way children often speak in his following words:

"Most of us are as terrified of love as little kids are terrified of the world. Little kids come up to you and say, "I know someone who loves you" or "I know someone who likes you." They say it like, I'm not going to really come out and say it. And for adults, it's probably the same way. They never really get beyond that fear".

The music video for "Somebody's Crying" was released in 1995 and was directed by Bill Pope.   In contrast to the song's melancholy lyrical content, the video presents a more upbeat story of a summer romance, and features Isaak riding a surfboard, a favorite pastime of his.  Isaak said, "I thought it would be more fun to do. More and more I'm trying to keep a little bit of fun in what I'm doing."   Actors Jennifer Rubin, Jenna Elfman, Zen Gesner, and the late Chris Penn appear in the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWqjBWb6lX4

The video received a 1995 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Male Video, but lost to Tom Petty's "You Don't Know How It Feels"

So here we go!!....from 1995....its the great Chris Isaak....and...."Somebody's Crying"

This is for you Mckenzie.....

Another from the Michelle Archives....a replay because its so AWESOME!

As everyone knows.....I love Justin Timberlake....

This is one of my favorites by him and very recent....it is one that moves me like no other.....its "Mirrors"......its from this 2013 album..."20/20 Experience"

The song was released on February 11, 2013 as the album's second single, following his performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards.  "Mirrors" lyrics discuss a lover's "other half" after having taken a break in their relationship. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, who complimented its production and lyrical content. It debuted at 26 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and later became a Top 5 hit, peaking at number 2 and at number one in the United Kingdom and within the top ten in several countries internationally.

Some sources say the inspiration for "Mirrors" was JT's wife....the gorgeous Jessica Biel........the song is very clearly a loving ode to his recent bride Jessica Biel, down to an extended outro repeatedly proclaiming “You are, you are / The love of my life” and JT explaining “You’re the inspiration for this precious song.”  But another authority on the matter or romance—Jerry Seinfeld, or the fictional version of himself he played on his eponymous sitcom—had another discovery about romance, at least briefly, after falling in love with a woman who shares a virtually identical personality to himself, down to sharing the same initials. “Now I know what I’ve been looking for all these years—myself!” he rhapsodizes to Kramer after their first encounter. “I’ve been waiting for me to come along, and now I’ve swept myself off my feet!”

Perhaps most tellingly—and perhaps somewhat ironically—having his love as his mirror allows JT to change and become a better man, Timberlake singing “I can’t ever change without you” and later “So now I say goodbye to the old me, it’s already gone.” Having a mirror put up to himself allows JT to see his imperfections, and gives him reason to want to change them.

In the end, it’s actually a very sweet and thoughtful love song, and one that even a famous person like Biel would probably be flattered to have written about them. And hell, not even Seinfeld viewed the notion of finding love through your exact replica as a sustainable formula—by the end of the episode, Jerry turns against his female equivalent, realizing “I can’t be with someone like me.. I hate myself!! If anything, I need to get the exact opposite of me!”

If Biel is the inspiration.....that is probably more than enough inspiration for anyone...

So here we go...its new for 2013......give it a listen...I promise you'll like it.....

Soooo here we go...its JT.....the great JT....and......"Mirrors"...........enjoy....I know I will :)
