To say what JT's ....."Mirrors" ....does to me......would take volumes...

It simply gets to me....all you have to do is read the lyrics....

And I'm not afraid to say I cry every time I listen to it...

My absolute favorite song in the world right now - "Song of Zulu" by Phosphorescent.

I'll dedicate this to Red and Michelle. Because I like to share what's mine with the ones I love.

"Angels In Everything" by Blue October

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iti-m78Uly8

This song became very very special for me on Friday night. Grant was playing it when he asked me a question. I think you can guess my answer.  :)

hugggzzz 'n xoxo

~Laurie~

I've sat at the back of the line for years,
Wishing the world wouldn't spin,
I give in, alone again it appears.
There were pieces of me that lived in corners on a hard wood floor.
Until an Angel walked in through my door.

Time stopped, the arch of her back grew wings.
And pulling me further from a devil to a heaven, she said "Believe."
True peace as she looked into my soul.
She said "I'm here to show you faith, and to help you when you fall."

Can you feel my heart,
Beating underneath these stars?
You're the Angel that came, and took these clouds away.
You made me believe!
Never be weak, be strong.
Live every moment like an Angel
Flies...

I'll whisper in your ear,
You are mine, and you will never have to be alone.
And when I pull you near,
You'll know I love you like I never loved anyone.
So let me be the one to lift you up,
I'll carry you home.
'Cause now I'm here to keep you safe,
And to catch you when you fall.

Can you feel my heart,
Beating underneath these stars?
You're the Angel that came, and took these clouds away.
You made me believe!
Never be weak, be strong.
Live every moment like an Angel
Flies.

Only you can see the true me,
Through all the right, and wrong.
Take hold, the best has yet to come.
Yeah
You've given me the strength to believe in my heart again!
And now we're here to share this faith.
Stand together through it all.

Can you feel my heart,
Beating underneath these stars?
You're the Angel that came, and took these clouds away.
You made me believe!
Never be weak, be strong.
Live every moment like an Angel
Flies...

Oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh.

That's who you are!
You're the Angel that came, and took these clouds away.
You made me believe!
Never be weak, be strong.
So really strong!

That's who you are,
You're the Angel that came,
And took these clouds away...

Of all the 50's stars, I think Buddy was the one who would have been most likely to have successfully made the transition from early rock and roll to the more complex sounds that developed in the 60's and beyond. His songwriting seemed simple but was deceptively sophisticated, and of all his peers he was the one who really understood the potential of studio recording techniques. His death was one of the true tragedies in the history of recorded popular music.

Holly was that bridge from the 50's to the 60's I think...or at least one of them...

He was that bridge we often look for...between Elvis...and the Beatles.....

He gave us the beginnings of modern Rock and Roll.....and showed what performing really was all about..

For Holly.....I wonder if happiness was truly seeing Lubbock in his rear view mirror?  He never seemed to lose his roots..

He's greatly missed...

Another from the Michelle Archives.....and one that was maybe the hardest to write about...

Its a Madonna song....and I will be the first to say I am not a big Madonna fan...but this one....has always been special to me...and its one she is not well known for although it was her longest running #1 hit.  Its one I first heard at the end of a previous personal relationship long ago....and I was about to begin another.

Its called...."Take a Bow"......and its from 1995....and its beautiful.  I thought about it this weekend when earlier in this thread...Laurie Breeze...announced she had said....."Yes"...to a significant other in her life.  I was so happy..as I told her...because I was ending a long relationship in my own life...and to see someone begin one...lessened the pain...especially for someone I have liked and respected from afar.

"Take a Bow" is from Madonna's sixth studio album "Bedtime Stories". Released as the second single from Bedtime Stories in December 6, 1994, the song appears on her compilation albums "Something to Remember" (1995), GHV2 (2001) and Celebration (2009). It was written and produced by Madonna and R&B singer-songwriter Babyface and became her longest-running number-one hit in the United States. It was her first single to reach number-one in the United States after "This Used to Be My Playground" (1992), and it was her last number-one song in the United States in the 1990s.

The music video for "Take a Bow" was directed by Michael Haussman in Ronda and the bullring of Antequera, Spain. The plot sees Madonna as a bullfighter's neglected lover, played by real-life Spanish bullfighter Emilio Muñoz, yearning for his presence. The video won Best Female Video honors at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna performed "Take a Bow" live with Babyface at the 1995 American Music Awards and at the 1995 San Remo Festival in Italy.

After Rihanna hit number 1 on the Hot 100 in 2008 with her own unrelated song titled "Take a Bow", the two songs became one of the rare pairs of songs with the same title to both hit number 1.

Lyrics

Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Light are low, the curtains down
There's no one here
(There's no one here, there's no one in the crowd)
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when there's no one around (no one around)
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
(One lonely star you don't know who you are)

I've always been in love with you (always with you)
I guess you've always known it's true (you know it's true)
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye (bye bye), say good-bye

Make them laugh, it comes so easy
When you get to the part
Where you're breaking my heart (breaking my heart)
Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown
(Just make 'em smile the whole world loves a clown)
Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played (role that you played)
No more masquerade, you're one lonely star
(One lonely star and you don't know who you are)

Say good-bye (bye bye), say good-bye

All the world is a stage (world is a stage)
And everyone has their part (has their part)
But how was I to know which way the story'd go
How was I to know you'd break
(You'd break, you'd break, you'd break)
You'd break my heart

I've always been in love with you
(I've always been in love with you)
Guess you've always known its true
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye (bye bye), say good-bye
Say good-bye

There is an extended version I highly recommend too but the one above is the original :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiChwhPbwTc

So here we go....from 1995.....and ...Madonna.....its......."Take A Bow"

Its hard to turn your back on 11 years....but its also fun to see another door open for someone......congratulations again Laurie.....take a Bow...the show is just beginning for you :).  As for me.....I can only try and turn a page and keep trying to be that girl I have always wanted to become.....as the song says....."The Show is Over...Take a Bow"........and simply say...."The Show Is Over......Good Bye".........

A replay from the Michelle Archives......and maybe one of my favorites.....and always will be

It's from Crosby, Stills and Nash....and it was my late father's favorite song........""Southern Cross"........

"Southern Cross" is a song written by Stephen Stills and performed by the rock band Crosby, Stills & Nash. It was released in 1982 on the band's Daylight Again album. Stephen Stills sings lead vocals throughout, with Graham Nash joining the final verse.

The song, which peaked at #18, is about a man who sails the world following a failed love affair. During the voyage, the singer takes comfort in sailing ("We got eighty feet of waterline. / Nicely making way."), in the beauty of the sea, and particularly in the Southern Cross, a constellation by which sailors in the Southern Hemisphere have traditionally navigated. But his final consolation is music ("I have my ship / And all her flags are a flyin' / She is all that I have left / And music is her name.").

Southern Cross is based on the song "Seven League Boots" by Rick and Michael Curtis. Stills explained, "The Curtis Brothers brought a wonderful song called 'Seven League Boots,' but it drifted around too much. I rewrote a new set of words and added a different chorus, a story about a long boat trip I took after my divorce. It's about using the power of the universe to heal your wounds. Once again, I was given somebody's gem and cut and polished it.

When I was a little girl my father would take me sailing on Lake Merced by San Francisco..and often out into the Bay...
The name of his boat was.....the.... "Southern Cross"....he would often let me steer the boat as he ran the sails.....those Sunday afternoons were some of the brightest of my young life....as I'd often almost tip the boat over at times....but never once would he get mad or upset...in fact...he seemed to get a kick out it......I was Captain Michelle....and he was First Mate Rance Miles...and no daughter ever felt more loved and wanted.  I'll cherish those moments the rest of my life :)

"Southern Cross"

Oooh ...

Got out of town on a boat goin' to Southern islands
Sailing a reach before a followin' sea
She was makin' for the trades on the outside
And the downhill run to Papeete

Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas
We got eighty feet of the waterline nicely making way
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you
But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away

Think about
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me larger voices callin'
What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten

(Around the world) I have been around the world
(Lookin') Lookin' for that woman girl
(Who knows she knows) Who knows love can endure
And you know it will

When you see the Southern Cross for the first time
You understand now why you came this way
'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from is so small
But it's as big as the promise, the promise of a comin' day

So I'm sailing for tomorrow my dreams are a dyin'
And my love is an anchor tied to you tied with a silver chain
I have my ship and all her flags are a' flyin'
She is all that I have left and music is her name

Think about
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me larger voices callin'
What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten

(I've been around the world) I have been around the world
(Lookin') Lookin' for that woman girl
Who knows love can endure
And you know it will, and you know it will yes

Oooh ...

So we cheated and we lied and we tested
And we never failed to fail it was the easiest thing to do
You will survive being bested
Somebody fine will come along make me forget about loving you
At the southern cross

So here we go....from 1982.....and one of the most beautiful songs you'll ever hear....from Crosby, Stills and Nash...

Its......."Southern Cross"....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cBsnopTVmo

This is for you Dad....I miss you more often than I maybe should......and I need you so much now .....oh btw.......Thank You...for everything .....I Love You :)

Another from the Michelle Archives

This is from one of the more prolific and lasting singing duos in I think....music history....

It's from Hall and Oates and 1982.....and its called....."Kiss on My List".....

It's one I have always loved as it really stands the test of time well....as most of the songs from Hall and Oates do...and few singers have the vocal range that Daryl Hall does....he is simply...awesome..

Daryl Hall & John Oates is an American musical duo composed of Daryl Hall and John Oates who achieved their greatest fame in the late 1970s and early to mid-1980s with a fusion of rock and roll and rhythm and blues styles, which they dubbed "rock and soul.  Critics Stephen Thomas Erlewine and J. Scott McClintock write,  "at their best, Hall & Oates' songs were filled with strong hooks and melodies that adhered to soul traditions without being a slave to them by incorporating elements of new wave."  While much of the duo's reputation is due to its sustained pop-chart run in the 1980s, they continue to record and tour, and remain respected by various artists for their ability to cross stylistic boundaries.

They are best known for their six No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Rich Girl", "Kiss on My List", "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", and "Out of Touch", as well as many other songs which charted in the Top 40. In total, the act had 34 singles chart hits on the US Billboard Hot 100, seven RIAA platinum albums, and six RIAA gold albums. Because of that chart success, Billboard magazine named them the most successful duo of the rock era, surpassing The Everly Brothers.

"Kiss on My List" is a 1981 song recorded by Daryl Hall and John Oates. It was written by Janna Allen and Daryl Hall, and produced by Hall and Oates. It was the third single from their album "Voices", and became their second Billboard Hot 100 number-one single (after "Rich Girl" in 1977).

While two other songs from the album had returned the duo to chart activity, it was the success of "Kiss on My List" that confirmed the start of the duo's sustained run as one of American pop's top-selling acts, a run that lasted into 1989.  According to Daryl Hall, Eddie Van Halen copied the synth part of this song and used it for the song "Jump" by Van Halen

"Kiss on My List" can be heard in the films "She's Out of My League" and "You Again".
The song is a popular track for use during "Kiss cams" at stadiums and arenas.

So here we go......from 1982....and the great....... Hall and Oates......its....."Kiss on My List"......

This is for Sadie.....for being a great caring friend.....thanks :)
