I saw the 1976 concert with Paul McCartney & Wings on TV so, now I have been listening to a lot of them. All the Beatles had successful Solo Careers but my fave is Wings, I guess cause he was the rocker of the bunch

Here's another one about keeping on in the face of adversity.  It's southern rockers Wet Willie, whose first album goes all the way back to 1971 and who continue to tour (and occasionally record) until this day.  This is their best known song, a top ten hit from 1974 called "Keep On Smilin'".  While they would never again reach the top ten, the group took their own advice and carried on, scoring additional chart singles throughout the seventies.  Sill, this is their legacy tune, and the one most people now know them for.  Enjoy!

Well, you say you've got the blues
You've got holes in both your shoes yeah
You're feeling alone and confused
You got to keep on smilin'
Just keep on smilin'

Yeah you're 'bout to go insane
'Cause your woman's playin' games
And she says that you're to blame
Just keep on smilin'

Keep on smilin' thru the rain
Laughin' at the pain
Just flowin' with the changes
Till the sun comes out again

Singin' in a honkey tonk cafe
But nobody's hearin' what you play
They're too busy drinkin' anyway
You gotta keep on smilin'

Say you found a piece of land
You're gonna change from city boy
To country man, yeah
Try to build your life with your hands
And just keep on smilin'
Keep on smilin'

Keep on smilin' thru the rain
Laughin' at the pain
Just flowin' with the changes
Till the sun comes out again

You're just hangin' out
At a local bar
And you're wonderin'
Who the hell you are
Are you a farmer?
Are you a star?

Smile on through the rain
Laugh through all the pain
Flow on with the changes
Till the sun shines out again

Keep on smilin', smilin', laughin', laughin'
Flowin', flowin', flowin', flowin'

The Michelle Archives is alive and well......and here is another from that marvelous collection....and one of my favorites...

Its from the great Pat Benatar........and its......."Love is a Battlefield*

"Love Is a Battlefield" is a song performed by Pat Benetar, and written by Holly Knight and Mike Chapman. It was released as a single from Benatar's live album Live from Earth. The single has been certified gold and is her highest charting single in the United States. It topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for four weeks and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1983.  It topped the Australian singles chart for five weeks in 1984. The song was rereleased in the United Kingdom in March 1985 and reached #17. The song would also net Benatar her fourth consecutive Grammy Award for "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance" of 1983. It was awarded a Gold certification in Canada for sales of 5000 units. It was featured in the television series Psych and Drop Dead Diva and in the film 13 Going on 30. The single was unlike most of Benatar's previous work, as it featured an electronic dance element, but guitars and drums were still present. The song won Benatar a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

The guitar work and the associated beat on this song are priceless.....and as a guitar player it is one I can't never cease to listen to.....
The lyrics are beyond description...and its easy to see why the song was so popular.....

"Love is a Battlefield"
We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong
Searching our hearts for so long
Both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

You're begging me to go
Then making me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way
Or am I the best thing you've had

Believe me
Believe me
I can't tell you why
But I'm trapped by your love
And I'm chained to your side

We are young
Heartache to heartache we stand
No promises
No demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong
Searching our hearts for so long
Both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

When I'm losing control
Will you turn me away
Or touch me deep inside
And when all this gets old
Will it still feel the same
There's no way this will die
But if we get much closer
I could lose control
And if your heart surrenders
You'll need me to hold

We are young
Heartache to heartache we stand
No promises
No demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong
No one can tell us we're wrong
Searching our hearts for so long
Both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

And who am I dedicating this song to?  She knows....I promise you......:)

Have a great week everybody....make it a good one and and enjoy :)

Another from the Michelle Archives....

Its from 1984....and Dan Hartman...its called......."I Can Dream About You"

You probably haven't heard the name Dan Hartman a lot....but I promise you've heard this song :)

"I Can Dream About You" is a song performed by Dan Hartman on the soundtrack of the film "Streets of Fire". Originally released in 1984 as a single off Hartman's album "I Can Dream About You", it reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The song was performed by Winston Ford in the movie. In 2006 the song appeared in the popular video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
According to Daryl Hall, Hartman had written the song with Hall & Oates in mind, and offered the song to them to record as their own. Hall & Oates declined, citing that they didn't normally record cover songs. Late in their career, however, they issued an album of covers called Our Kind of Soul on which they recorded their own version (with changed lyrics) of Hartman's song. Two music videos accompanied the song. One didn't feature Hartman and mainly featured scenes from the Streets of Fire film with actor Stoney Jackson lip-syncing the song. Another featured Hartman playing a bartender who tries to charm a young lady while scenes from Streets of Fire are playing.

Hall and Oates is one of my favorite groups and I wish many times they would have recorded it originally...with Daryl Hall's vocal range...I think it would have been a smash....although Hartman is amazing in his rendition.

"I Can Dream About You"
No more timing each tear that falls from my eyes
I'm not hiding the remedy to cure this old heart of mine

I can dream about you
If I can't hold you tonight
I can dream about you
You know how to hold me just right

I can dream about you
If I can't hold you tonight
I can dream about you
You know how to hold me just right

Moving sidewalks, I don't see under my feet
Climbing up from down here below
Where the streets see me lonely for you

I can dream about you
If I can't hold you tonight
I can dream about you
You know how to hold me just right

I can dream about you
I'm gonna press my lips against you and hold you tight to me
I can dream about you
You know you got me spellbound what else can it be

Moving sidewalks, I don't see under my feet
Climbing up from the pain in my heart 'cause it's you that I need

I don't understand it
I can't keep my mind off loving you
Ooh, now baby, I'm caught up in the magic I see in you
There's one thing to do

I can dream about you
If I can't hold you tonight
I can dream about you
You know how to hold me just right

I can dream about you
If I can't hold you tonight
I can dream about you
You know how to hold me just right

When you listen to this song.....If you can't imagine thinking about someone you care about who is far away......or dancing with that special someone.....then check your pulse...something is very wrong :)

I love this song.....I think I'll dedicate it to someone very special to me....because I miss her so very much......and you know who you are :)

Enjoy everyone....have a most wonderful and special weekend :)

I am sure Michelle would agree with me on this and I have not seen his name mentioned or maybe I have missed it but, I am listening to Jimi Hendrix- "Along the Watchtower"    His guitar playing is the style you hear so much of nowadays but in the mid-sixties... he was it. Anyway, for those who have not heard him ...please listen to his music  :)

Another from the Michelle Archives.....and one of my all time favorites....

Its from Stevie Ray Vaughn......and its....."Riviera Paradise"

This is a soulful instrumental by SRV. After a full day of recording material for the album "Riviera Paradise", Stevie asked his producer to leave the tape running and to turn down the lights. All alone, he recorded the guitar track on his Fender Strat. His group "Double Trouble" added the backing later, including an organ foundation from Reese Wynans.
On the Austin City Limits performance that I have attached here, Stevie introduced this by saying it was "For all the hurting people in the world."

I absolutely adore this song. Stevie said it was him "praying" through his guitar, and that's exactly what it sounds like. An absolutely beautiful song played by an outstanding musician. I will miss Stevie until the day I die.  He is the main reason I started playing jazz guitar...he and the great Earl Klugh.....thanks guys...

Every time I play....when we're performing....I think of Stevie Ray and what he meant to music....and how in many ways a part of it died tragically when he did...but so much more continues to live.

This is for you Laura.......Just close your eyes and sit back and enjoy.....I promise you'll like it :)
Have a wonderful day......I miss you and your Scotland
