From the Michelle Archives....and brand new.....

Its from one of my all time favorites....Lindsey Stirling.......its called....."Minimal Beat"

I love and adore Lindsey.....

Lindsey Stirling tried every way she could think of to get her music heard. She pitched record labels, entered talent competitions in Las Vegas and went on “America’s Got Talent,” and none of it worked. Then the dub-step violinist tried YouTube — and connected with an ever-growing audience. Her YouTube channel has more than 3.5 million subscribers, and her videos have been viewed more than 450 million times.

Putting her music online has literally taken Stirling around the world, as demonstrated in her new video for “Minimal Beat,” which premieres today on Speakeasy. The clip for the winding instrumental song finds Stirling playing in her charmingly expressive, athletic way against backdrops in London, Paris, Moscow, Sydney and other cities, between shots of her clowning with her bandmates backstage, in restaurants and hotel rooms.

“The only way I’d be where I am today is through YouTube,” Stirling told Speakeasy. In fact, “Radioactive,” her video with the a cappella group Pentatonix, won Response of the Year at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards earlier this month.

“Minimal Beat” appears on Stirling’s self-titled 2012 album, which was re-released last month.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZa1iFO0Juk

Check her out and subscribe to her YouTube channel.....you'll fall in love with her and her music as I have.....I promise....

This one I dedicate to me......and my good friends here.....you know who you are :)

I just recently discovered her, and she's great. Moon Trance has that bit of influence from "Hall of the Mountain King" that I just love, and Shadows is well done, too. Also, her covers of the Halo and Skyrim themes are magnificent (Peter Hollens does AWESOME work on the vocals, by the way).

Aside from that, Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast and Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction have been getting a lot of love from me lately. "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "Sweating Bullets" are great to sing along to in the truck.

Another from the Michelle Archives....

A simple one....but one very special to me....its by Sara "Rumer" Joyce.....and its called....."I Believe In You"

Its beautiful....its all I can say.....

This made me think of an identically-titled song by Bob Dylan, so I thought I'd share it with everyone.  Sadly, this seems to be the only Bob Dylan song on the face of the earth that's actually aggressively policed, and every video I found had been removed or the sound muted due to a complaint by the copyright owner.  However, I found a gorgeous cover of the song by Alison Krauss, so I'm linking that version instead.  Hope you all enjoy it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qadnY8p-Hi8

"I Believe In You"

They ask me how I feel
And if my love is real
And how I know I'll make it through
And they, they look at me and frown
They'd like to drive me from this town
They don't want me around
'Cause I believe in you.

They show me to the door
They say don't come back no more
'Cause I don't be like they'd like me to
And I, I walk out on my own
A thousand miles from home
But I don't feel alone
'Cause I believe in you.

I believe in you even through the tears and the laughter
I believe in you even though we be apart
I believe in you even on the morning after
Oh, when the dawn is nearing
Oh, when the night is disappearing
Oh, this feeling is still here in my heart.

Don't let me drift too far
Keep me where you are
Where I will always be renewed
And that which you've given me today
Is worth more than I could pay
And no matter what they say
I believe in you.

I believe in you when winter turn to summer
I believe in you when white turn to black
I believe in you even though I be outnumbered
Oh, though the earth may shake me
Oh, though my friends forsake me
Oh, even that couldn't make me go back.

Don't let me change my heart
Keep me set apart
From all the plans they do pursue
And I, I don't mind the pain
Don't mind the driving rain
I know I will sustain
'Cause I believe in you.

Another from the Michelle Archives......

Its from Duran Duran.....and its...."Union of the Snake"...

This is probably my favorite song from this wonderful group.....Its hard to beat Nick Rhodes on vocals.....I got to see them do this live in my second home.....London......and they were still awesome by the sound....

"Union of the Snake" was the ninth single by Duran Duran, released on 17 October 1983.
"Union of the Snake" was the lead single from the band's third album Seven and the Ragged Tiger and preceded its release by one month. It became one of Duran Duran's most popular hits peaking at #3 on both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The video for "Union of the Snake" was conceived by Russell Mulcahy, who directed many of the heavy rotation videos for songs from Duran Duran's previous album Rio. However, as Mulcahy was busy preparing to direct the concert film Arena and the documentary film Sing Blue Silver during the band's world tour, the video for "Union" was actually directed by Simon Milne (who also filmed videos for Kajagoogoo and Missing Persons). There was a bit of controversy surrounding the video as it was released to MTV a whole week before the single was released on radio. Radio stations were anxious at the time because they were concerned that channels like MTV might supplant them in the promotion of singles.

The clip, filmed in part in sandhills near Cronulla, features the band being tracked through the Australian desert by a half-man, half-snake creature. They eventually take a lift beneath the sands into what appears to be an underground cathedral, where the snake creature and other bizarre characters interact with vocalist Le Bon. The band's other members make only brief appearances in the video.

The use of expensive sets, costumes and makeup foreshadowed the over-the-top nature of videos to come, including a 17-minute epic video for "New Moon on Monday", the massively expensive video for "The Wild Boys", and the extravagant concept/live film Arena.

So here we go!!   Its from 1983....and Duran Duran.......and don't you dare touch that dial.....

Its ...."Union of the Snake"........Michelle says check it out.....:)

Another from the Michelle Archives....as my Duran Duran tribute continues....

Its from the great great group...and its called......"Girls on Film".......and its maybe their most fun song....certainly their most controversial...

Lets face it.....Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes just kick ass!

I still love "Union of the Snake" better......,but this one is just pure fun when you put it all together with the video...

And the most famous part of the song ended being the music video...which contained various elements of female fighting....S&M....all the stuff you all know I love!.......and other things that can only be described as awesome to offensive depending on your sensibilities.....of which I personally have none!

The video was considered to raunchy and BANNED by the BBC!!.....BOOOO!!...and heavily edited for MTV late night :)

My....the times...they are a changing :)

"Girls on Film" is the third single by Duran Duran, released on 13 July 1981.
The single became Duran Duran's Top 10 breakthrough in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at Number 5 in July 1981. Its success was particularly gratifying for the band, who had personally selected it for release following the failure of its predecessor, "Careless Memories", which had been chosen by their record company, EMI. Its popularity provided a major boost to sales of the band's eponymous debut album, Duran Duran, which had been released a month earlier.
The song did not chart in the United States on its initial release, but it became popular and widely known after receiving heavy airplay on MTV when the Duran Duran album was re-issued in 1983.

Over the years, "Girls on Film" has become a staple of the encores for Duran Duran's live performances and is often the final song of a concert, during which lead singer Simon Le Bon introduces the rest of the band.

The song fared well on the radio and the charts before the video was filmed, but the controversy that ensued helped to keep the band in the public eye and the song on the charts for many weeks.

The band performs on an elevated stage behind a models' catwalk, which resembles a boxing ring, as various scantily clad women act out a series of erotic vignettes. A number of these scenarios feature mild depictions of BDSM, sexual fetishism and fantasy and recurring themes of seduction and abandonment:

Two models in sheer black camisoles and knickers mount the catwalk carrying pillows. They straddle a feather-covered pole at either end and move toward the centre, sliding their crotches along the horizontal candy-striped shaft in a slow and suggestive manner. The models proceed to have a pillow fight. Upon finishing, they kiss and return to their dressing room and pour champagne on each other's cleavage.

The Sumo wrestling match from "Girls on Film".
A petite female Sumo wrestler with her hair flared up in a tall tophawk ponytail mounts the catwalk to confront a lumbering, heavyset male Sumo wrestler. The woman is wearing a sheer top and a mawashi loincloth. In the confrontational tachi-ai stance, she seizes her opponent by the shoulder and flips him forward head-over-heels. He somersaults and lands on his backside with a thud and she gives the ceremonial rei salutation (i.e., a bow) and walks away victorious.

and that's just the beginning folks.......trust me.....I loved it!!!!

And so.....here we go....its from 1983...and the great Duran Duran.......its...."Girls on Film"

Don't you dare touch that dial!

This is for the world's greatest Duran Duran fan....my hot and sexy Mom......

I love you Mom :)

Another from the Michelle Archives….and one of my guitar favorites….and a replay

Its from one of my favorite performers…..Chris Isaak and the boys …and 1986…..and their song……”Blue Hotel”

The song is part of the album…”Chris Isaak”

Isaak signed a contract to Warner Bros. Records in 1984 for his first album, Silvertone.  One track from the album "Dancin" was Isaak's first music video featured on MTV and two tracks from this album, "Gone Ridin'" and "Livin' for Your Lover", were featured in David Lynch's cult classic Blue Velvet. Isaak's second self-titled album, Chris Isaak, was photographed by fashion photographer Bruce Weber. “Blue Hotel” is one of the mainstays of that great album.

Isaak's best known song is "Wicked Game".  Though released on the 1989 album Heart Shaped World, an instrumental version of the song was later featured in the 1990 David Lynch film Wild at Heart.  Lee Chesnut, an Atlanta radio station music director who was obsessed with Lynch films, played the vocal version and it became the station's most-requested song. Chesnut spread the word to other radio stations and the single became a national Top 10 hit in February 1991. The music video for the song was directed by Herb Ritts and was a MTV and VH1 hit; shot in black and white, it starred Isaak and supermodel Helena Christensen rolling on the beach, embracing and whispering in each other's ears. Another less-seen version of "Wicked Game" is directed by David Lynch and comprises scenes from the film Wild at Heart. "Wicked Game" featured as the backing music in the 2001 TV advertisement for the Jaguar X-Type in the UK. In 1995, Isaak split with longtime guitarist James Calvin Wilsey. That year's Forever Blue album and the accompanying tour featured Hershel Yatovitz on guitar.

Hershcek Yaovittz is a real guitar hero…and he is certainly mine.  He was one of the big inspirations for me learning the guitar….along with two of the best ever…

Stevie Ray Vaughn…..and Earl Klugh

And “Blue Hotel” was a song I learned to play on ☺

So here we go…and don’t you dare touch that dial!....its Chris Isaak and the Boys……..and their hit…….”Blue Hotel”……

Here is another with Chris and the boys having fun.....I love these guys.....please let me jam with you Chris!

This one is for my late father…for buying me my first Gibson guitar…..and inspiring to keep at it…..thank you Daddy….I miss you…

Have a great weekend everybody ☺

Another from the Michelle Archives.....and one of the prettiest I have ever heard....

Its from my favorite....Chris Isaak......and its....."Somebody's Crying"

"Somebody's Crying" is a song by musician Chris Isaak from his fifth album, Forever Blue. The song was released as the album's first single in May 1995.   It also appears on his 2006 Best of Chris Isaak compilation. A live version is included on Isaak's 2008 Live in Australia album.

Isaak wrote the song shortly after a breakup with his girlfriend. Isaak had attended a friend's party, but soon realized that he did not want to be there.  He went inside a walk-in closet, closed the door, grabbed a guitar that was leaning against the back wall, and wrote "Somebody's Crying."

Lyrically, the song describes one's yearning for a former lover, and the fear of communicating again with that person.   In a 1995 interview, Isaak compared the lyrics to a way children often speak:

"Most of us are as terrified of love as little kids are terrified of the world. Little kids come up to you and say, "I know someone who loves you" or "I know someone who likes you." They say it like, I'm not going to really come out and say it. And for adults, it's probably the same way. They never really get beyond that fear"

The music video for "Somebody's Crying" was released in 1995 and was directed by Bill Pope.  In contrast to the song's melancholy lyrical content, the video presents a more upbeat story of a summer romance, and features Isaak riding a surfboard, a favorite pastime of his.  Isaak said, "I thought it would be more fun to do. More and more I'm trying to keep a little bit of fun in what I'm doing."  Actors Jennifer Rubin, Jenna Elfman, Zen Gesner, and Chris Penn appear in the video.

The video received a 1995 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Male Video, but lost to Tom Petty's "You Don't Know How It Feels."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WobpBMStbog

"Somebody's Crying"

I know somebody and they cry for you.
They lie awake at night and dream of you.
I bet you never even know they do, but somebody's crying.

I know somebody and they called your name.
A million times and still you never came.
They go on loving you just the same, I know that somebody's trying.

So please, return the love you took from me.
Or please, let me know if it can't be me, I know when,
Somebody's lying, I know when somebody's lying.

I know that somebody's lying, I know that somebody's lying.

Give me a sign and let me know we're through.
If you don't love me like I love you.
But if you cry at night the way I do I'll know that somebody's lying.

So please, return the love you took from me.
Or please, let me know if it can't be me.
I know when somebody's lying, I know when somebody's lying.
Oh I, oh I......

So here we go..and don't you dare touch that dial.....its my man Chris Isaak...and....."Somebody's Crying"

This for is my late little sister Maddie.....I miss you so very much.......have a Merry Christmas baby........the best ever :)

Have a great weekend everybody :)
