Watched the rather excellent Trish/Victoria hardcore Women's Title match from 2002 - kind of a botched ending coming off the snap suplex but damn if they didn't both work hard - and it struck me that they cut out Victoria's awesome old theme song.

Classic.  Especially with the Russian faux-lesbian video.

The horribly underrated Birds of Prey television show used this song as the background to their climactic fight in the last episode. I think it really fit.

I LOVED that show. Fuckin' criminally short run.

I don't think they knew what they had their hands on. It was a helluva lot more empowering than Charmed.

God damn, Charmed pisses me off just thinking about it.  That show was like the pregenitor of BRATZ.

I never really saw the *ahem* charm of the show myself. Angst ridden witches?

I prefer a little more action, a little less Dawson's Creek.

Another from the Michelle Archives.....its from the British group Bastille......and its....."Pompeii"

"Pompeii" is a song by British rock band Bastille. It is the fourth single from their debut studio album Bad Blood and the first to get major airplay and promotion. The song was released as a digital download on 24 February 2013. It reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart, number 4 in Australian ARIA Chart, and number 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Alternative Songs chart.

Lyrically, the song is about the Roman town of the same name, which met its fate with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It was nominated for British Single of the Year at the 2014 BRIT Awards.

The official music video was filmed in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California. It was directed by Jesse John Jenkins and produced by Tova Dann. The video was first released onto YouTube on 20 January 2013 at a total length of three minutes and fifty-two seconds. The music video focuses on a man (played by Bastille frontman Dan Smith) who is running through various areas of Los Angeles in an allegory of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii. Lyrics such as "And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love" and "Great clouds roll over the hills, bringing darkness from above" are shown in the video. He keeps encountering people whose entire eyes have turned black and flees in a stolen car to the desert, where he soon becomes another black-eyed person.

So here we go...and don't you dare touch that dial!....its Bastille and......."Pompeii"

Give it a listen.....I think you'll like it :)

Another from the Archives....and a special one to me...as it was my Father and Mother's song...

Its by Fleetwood Mac...and its called....."You Make Loving Fun"

"You Make Loving Fun" is a song written by Christine McVie of the British-American band Fleetwood Mac. McVie also sang the lead vocal for this song, and she did so for many years thereafter. "You Make Loving Fun" was separately published as the fourth and final 45 rpm single from the band's album Rumours in 1977. This song was the fourth top ten hit from Rumours, and it peaked at number nine on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart.

"You Make Loving Fun" has also been included in many compilation albums by Fleetwood Mac. The song was inspired by an affair McVie had with the band's lighting director, Curry Grant.[1]

"You Make Loving Fun" was a concert staple for Fleetwood Mac and was played during every tour involving Christine McVie from 1976 until 1997, a year before McVie's departure from the band and retirement from touring.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dUG9XSbaQg

This song again highlights the awesome talent that was Christine McVie....her vocals often highlighted a number of Fleetwood Mac's song and she went on to have a very successful solo career.  Two parts of the song I love so much......

I never did believe in miracles,
But I've a feeling it's time to try.
I never did believe in the ways of magic,
But I'm beginning to wonder why.

Don't, don't break the spell,
It would be different and you know it will,
You, you make loving fun,
And I don't have to tell you but you're the only one.

So here we go!...and don't you dare touch that dial!....its Fleetwood Mac....and..."You Make Loving Fun"

What can I say?  Thanks Mom and Dad....you were and are the best.....you taught me the days of magic....

Have a great day everyone..and make it musical :)

Another from the Michelle Archives and one of my favorite groups....Halestorm......and the song....."Mz. Hyde"

This song is AWESOME and is my entrance song for matches...

"The Strange Case Of.".. is the second full-length studio album from the rock band Halestorm, released on April 10, 2012. The album was produced by Howard Benson, who also produced the band's self-titled debut album. The first single and video from the album "Love Bites (So Do I)" won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance

"Mz. Hyde" was seen as the focal point of the album. Arejay noted that when they were writing songs for the new record, they had several ballads, like "In Your Room", and many heavy songs like "You Call Me A Bitch Like It's A Bad Thing", but nothing to truly tie them together. When they wrote the song "Mz. Hyde", they felt that it tied the two types together. The song is partially a reference to how Lzzy had two sides: the soft side that rarely came out in their previous record and was only ever seen by the band members, and her rock persona that is seen on stage. In this album, the softer side is shown in more depth. Lyrically, the song discusses the idea that appearances are not everything, and talks about a girl having an evil side that comes out unexpectedly.

My favorite part are these lines from the middle of the song,

Welcome to the nightmare in my head, (Oh god!)
Say hello to something scary,
The monster in your bed, (Oh god!)
Just give in and you won’t be sorry,
Welcome to my other side,
Hello it’s Mz Hyde!

I can be the bitch,
I can play the whore,
Or your fairytale princess who could ask for more
A touch of wicked,
A pinch of risqué,
Good girl gone bad, my poison is your remedy

Better be scared, better be afraid,
Now that the beast is out of her cage,
And I know you,
Wanna risk it,
Soon though you,
Are so addicted
Boy you better run for your life!

SO here we go!...and don't you dare touch that dial!...its Halestorm....and "Mz. Hyde"

Have a great weekend everybody....and make it musical!

Another from the Michelle Archives and its a wonderful oldie.....its Fleetwood Mac....from 1976....and its...."Rhiannon"

"Rhiannon" is a song written by Stevie Nicks and originally recorded by Fleetwood Mac. First released on their self-titled album in 1975, it was subsequently issued as a single the following year.

"Rhiannon" was voted #488 in The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine. Its US chart peak was in June 1976, when it hit #11 It peaked at #46 in the UK singles chart for three weeks after re-release in February 1978.

The song is always referred to as simply "Rhiannon" on Fleetwood Mac albums. The suffixed title "Rhiannon (Will You Ever Win)" was only used on singles in certain territories.

Live performances of the song were sometimes prefaced with Nicks saying, "This is a song about an old Welsh witch."[4] During 1975–1980, Fleetwood Mac's live performances of "Rhiannon" took on a theatrical intensity not present on the FM-radio single. The song built to a climax in which Nicks' vocals were so impassioned that, as drummer and band co-founder Mick Fleetwood said, "her Rhiannon in those days was like an exorcism."

Nicks discovered Rhiannon through a novel called Triad, by Mary Leader. The novel is about a woman named Branwen, who is possessed by another woman named Rhiannon. There is mention of the Welsh legend of Rhiannon in the novel, but the characters in the novel bear little resemblance to their original Welsh namesakes (both Rhiannon and Branwen are major female characters in the medieval Welsh prose tales of the Mabinogion).

Nicks bought the novel in an airport just before a long flight and thought the name was so pretty that she wanted to write something about a girl named Rhiannon. She wrote "Rhiannon" in 1974, three months before joining Fleetwood Mac, and has claimed that it took 10 minutes to write.

After writing the song, Nicks learned that Rhiannon originated from a Welsh goddess, and was amazed that the haunting song lyrics applied to the Welsh Rhiannon as well. Nicks researched the Mabinogion story and began work on a Rhiannon project, unsure of whether it would become a movie, a musical, a cartoon, or a ballet. There are several "Rhiannon Songs" from this unfinished project including "Stay Away" and "Maker of Birds." Nicks wrote the Fleetwood Mac song "Angel" based on the Rhiannon story.

Nicks avoided wearing black clothing for "about two years" in an effort to distance herself from the witchcraft and dark arts associations surrounding her as a result of the lyrics to "Rhiannon" giving fans the wrong impression.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtPyk8_onO8

This is a recording of what is considered the bands and Stevie Nicks greatest live performance of this ...one of their most popular songs.  Nicks basically gets lost in her performance and her vocals...combined with Christine McVie's and Lindsey Buckingham's....are haunting at times in the signature Fleetwood Mac sound.

So here we go!..and don't you dare touch that dial!..its the great Fleetwood Mac......featuring Stevie Nicks......and its the iconic....."Rhiannon"

Have a wonderful weekend everybody......and make it musical :)

Now that Michelle has presented videos of two of Fleetwood Mac's trio of lengendary singer/songwriters, I might as well post something from the other one.

Lindsey Buckingham from Palo Alto, CA is certainly one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time and definitely my favorite American-born one (after SRV, of course). As a vocalist, his orgasmic style and good looks drove women crazy, and provided a third of the three-part harmony with Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks that has never been duplicated in the list of classic rock bands.

But it was as a guitarist that Buckingham stood out. Self-trained, he couldn't even read music (though he could certainly write it). Nonetheless, his creative guitar solos were legendary. And this dude never did something all others did ... he never used a pick. Ever.

Here's Buckingham in a recent acoustic performance of his guitar classic, "Big Love"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOJXX-h3n5s

I would never diss the Big L.......nor a Palo Alto guy......and as a guitar player...he is one of my Guitar Heroes...he was and still is....really good!   From the "no pick" school of guitar playing (a la Mark Knopfler)

Another from the Michelle Archives....from the great Fleetwood Mac.....its... "Go Your Own Way"......

"Go Your Own Way" is a song by the British/American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released as a single in January 1977.

Written by Lindsey Buckingham, it was the first single from the group's 1977 album Rumours. It peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group's first top-ten hit in the U.S. In the UK, the single wasn't as successful, and would only reach #38. However, the song became very popular in the U.K. over a longer period as 'Rumours' received more radio airplay and it re-entered the singles chart on many occasions. This has led to the song selling gradually over the years and has therefore been certified Silver in the U.K. for Digital sales of over 200,000 copies. The song was also a #1 hit in Netherlands.

It is ranked number 120 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and is on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list. The song is about the complicated relationship that Buckingham and fellow Fleetwood Mac member Stevie Nicks were having.

To me this is Lindsey's signature song when he was with Fleetwood Mac......it was his anthem to Stevie Nicks....as they were searching for a reason to stay together.....but just couldn't.

Friday Night Sessions - 1997 - This was awesome!

So here we go!....and don't you dare touch that dial!....its the great Fleetwood Mac......featuring Lindsey Buckingham.....and one of my favorites......."Go Your Own Way"

Another from the Michelle Archives....and a new one....from one of my favorites...

Justin Timberlake...from "The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 Album"...its... "Not A Bad Thing"

"Not a Bad Thing" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake for his fourth studio album, The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 (2013). It was written and produced by Timberlake, Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley and Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon, with additional writing from James Fauntleroy. It was released as the third single from the album on February 24, 2014 through digital download, following a contemporary hit radio release on February 25. The song is a mid-tempo pop ballad, that makes use of an acoustic guitar throughout, with its lyrics centering around the semantic field of love.

"Not a Bad Thing" received positive reviews, with several contemporary music critics noting the song's production and lyrics being reminiscent of past material produced by former boy band 'N Sync. The song's music video premiered on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 20, 2014. It is a mini documentary, that follows two documentary filmmakers searching for a couple that got engaged on January 12, 2014, while heading to New York City on the Long Island Rail Road train, with the man proposing to his girlfriend to "Not a Bad Thing". The video concludes with the filmmakers being lead to several false leads, with a second part of the video to follow. Timberlake performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and during The 20/20 Experience World Tour.
