I heard somewhere (about 6 months ago) that ECC are now currently filming in digital HD with a new camera, but they have to get through a backlog of catfight releases that they've filmed on their old VHS camera. That's probably why at the moment, though most of the catfights are good, the quality of the video is still very grainy and slightly blurred compared to companies out there who have moved into the digital age and film with digital cameras. I'm unsure at what catalogue number ECC's digital recordings start, but I know ECC-82 was still filmed on VHS tape.
It looks like ECC have been filming on an old VHS camera, then converting the analogue recording into digital to make available for download and DVD disc purchase.
If it's true about them filming all current catfights in digital HD now as opposed to the 1980's technology of a VHS camera, I'm really looking forward to seeing the results.
You could be right about the early matches being filmed in analogue, rather than digital, but I'm sure there has been more than one camera update along the way, and the picture quality of ECC#82 is noticably better than, eg, that of the older matches mentioned above.
I read here that they are now filming in HD. Some fights are held back longer than others before release, but the better picture clarity and larger file size of most of the recent releases bears that out. The reason that the actual downloads are not HD is because, I think, of the way they are rendered and formatted after filming.
With my ancient PC and low rez monitor, the difference between WMV9 and HD is hardly noticable, so when Catzeview began selling their downloads in HD as well as WMV format, I swore I would update my own technology to take full advantage.
I haven't done so yet, but HD downloads from ECC would be the straw that breaks the camels back, sending my trusty old system, state of the art when I bought it nearly ten years ago, straight to the local charity shop.
Fights this good, and models as attractive as these, deserve to be seen as clearly as modern technology permits. Those filmed with the new camera are a definite improvement and a step in the right direction. Lets hope the next step, actual HD downloads, will be coming soon.
