Ralph Compton's The Deadwood Trail has 2 minor catfights. Not well written or described.  Sheriff of Rockaby County has 1 or 2 and Cap Fod Texas Ranger has 2 or 3.  Quiet Town has 2 as well.

Quiet Town is one of my JTE favorites - long, drawn out and well-described saloon brawl.

I just finished the Longarm book "Longarm And The Ghost Dancers".  Part western and part soft-porn.  Seems Longarm screws just about every woman he meets and the author likes to provide the details.  I thought the story itself was slow moving and there wasn't that much action.  When there was any action, it was quick and done.  There was a very brief catfight that lasted all of a short paragraph or so - not worth getting the book for at all.  Unless someone says there is an outstanding catfight in a book in this series, which seems very doubtful, I'm not going to look any further.  The best thing I can tell is that several of the Longarm book covers show some pretty hot women, but no evidence of any catfights.  Just enjoy the sexy women on the covers I guess.

I'm back at checking on more of JT's books.

Over Xmas I found Rebel Spy at a real-world bookstore.  It's Belle Boyd in a bareknuckle boxing match against some random blonde woman.  I liked it well enough (and paying 85 cents for the book didn't hurt!) but I can't give it a better rating than "okay."

Thanks CM - I've been holding off on Rebel Spy because I'm not a fan of boxing matches as catfight scenarios.  Will likely continue to hold off on this one.

Often in Edson boxing matches, one of the combatants will exploit the 19th century rule that a "round" ends upon the "knockdown" of a fighter.  So the winner is the boxer clever enough to take a knee whenever she senses the momentum turning against her.  Not very fan-friendly.

Bloody Border and Return to the Bloody Border have fights in each for Belle Boyd.  The Wild bunch is FULL of catfights.  Rearranging my library/office and finding more.

Good news!  Maybe.

I just saw on Amazon that The Ysabel Kid is coming to Kindle on Feb 1.  I couldn't find any other titles coming to Kindle, though (I mean, besides the 5 or so already on there).  Has anyone here read it?

Yep, very good story. Dusty Fog and Lon Yasbel's first "official" meeting. Don't remember a catfight tho. Glad they are coming to kindle.  Any book with the rebel spy-Belle Boyd, Belle star and Calamity Jane in them will have catfights.  All the Bunduki series and most of the Cap" Fog texas ranger and the Rockaby County series have fights.  He thru in as apartment house wrestle in one RC just so he could have the character in a bank about to be robbed.  As I apen and put up my collection, I'll try to post the one with fights for those who are interested.  Amazon did have 2 movies made from JT's books.  Don't know if still available or not.

colt - Thanks for the tip re the Ysabel Kid being a very good story.  Although it doesn't contain a catfight (noted earlier in this thread by someone), I may still get the book.  I've grown accustomed these characters and enjoy the early well-written JT westerns.  In that vein, I suggest reading A Town Called YellowDog and Comanche.  No catfight in either book but both are very good stories.  A Town Called YellowDog includes Dusty Fog's brother, who is sadly murdered in the book.  Comanche is about the Ysabel Kid growing up a as a young boy.  It's a very good description of life growing up as a Comanche.

I'm almost finished reading Trouble Trail.  It has a 4-girl catfight, but it's only average in my opinion.  I'll provide more detail soon.

Have Comanche and Trouble trail both.  Danny Fog featured in a Calamity Jane book.  Whip and the war lance I think.  Have a lot of his books but by no means all.  Azul rio has no catfight but very good action.  I'll post more titles with catfights as I find them..

Here's some info re Trouble Trail.  There's an outdoors catfight in a wooded area near a stream.  The 4 women involved are all on a wagon train headed west towards a fort destination.  Eileen, an officer's lady from back east, Molly, a school teacher, Russian Olga, a female pugilist, and Calamity Jane.  Eileen and Calamity don't get along and Eileen baits Calamity into a fight with Olga.  Soon Molly comes along and she jumps in to fight Eileen.  They all become tangled up and fight with each other at various points.  The fight pretty much takes up an entire chapter and there are references to the fight later on.  Eileen, Molly and Calamity all become friends after the big fight.  Although lengthy, the fight just didn't grab me as anything outstanding in its description.   Olga is only involved in the fight because she is paid off by Eileen.  I prefer the fight to be the result of a built-up rivalry between two equally matched women, of which there are plenty in other JTE books.  So I rate this fight slightly above average.  Olga by the way, was one of the participants in the excellent catfights in Quiet Town

Now reading Devil Gun.

Devil Gun is a good book but no catfighting.  The "rebel Spy" has boxing/catfight.    GoodNIght's dream and the Hide and Tallow men have one each I think. The Horse called mogollon and 44 caliber man have one.  Will add more with time.

Actually Devil Gun does have a brief, but intense catfight.  It's between Jill Dodd (Confederate rebel) vs. Liz Chamberlain (Yankee officer's wife).  Liz has been captured by Jill's bushwhacker band and the fight starts just as Dusty Fog and company are coming to the rescue.  Liz tackles Jill and they roll out of a tent.  They end up rolling down a steep slop and fall into a stream.  They are about to resume hostilities when sadly Dusty and one of his troop lasso the 2 women which stops the fight.  One of the few JT catfights that is actually stopped I believe.

I agree that Devil Gun is a good story - I'm almost finished reading it.  Will be ordering a new JT book soon - not sure yet which one.

I always wished J.T. had explored an alternate universe where the Confederacy won the war, and the Rebel women like Belle Boyd were free to create a catfight-filled high society.
