Just finished reading Trail Boss.  One of JT's earlier westerns from the late '60's.  Add it to the "no-catfight" list.  Not a bad read - it's about one of the early Texas cattle drives up to Dodge City, with Dusty, Mark, and the Ysabel Kid.  Not a bad story.  There's a woman along on the drive, but she's the only female character until a brief appearance by another woman near the very end and there's no connection between the two women at all.  Interesting error - the first chapter is incorrectly called "Bat Gooch's Mistake", which correctly is the title of the first chapter of the book "Running Irons".  You have to wonder how that obvious an error could be made by the publisher.

I just took the plunge and ordered Sacrifice for the Quagga God.  Although certainly not inexpensive, I saw a relatively less costly copy available and made the order.  Part of the Bunduki series, it supposedly has 3 female vs female fights, including an arena battle with Dawn Drummond Clayton that again, is reputed to be well done.  I'll report on this after I read the book.

I am eager to receive the book as well.  I should have it in another week or so.  I'll let you know if it meets expectations.

Sorry for the delay. I've had Sacrifice for the Quagga God for about a week but haven't had a chance to provide an update.  That said, I'm also sorry to report that the book is a major disappointment in terms of catfights.  I've not read it yet as I'm trying to finish another book, but I did of course skim through it in eager anticipation of finding some excellent catfights.

Of the three reputed female battles, one is between that voluptuous evil queen Charole and a rival female warrior.  Unfortunately, there is more of a description of why they have a fight than of the fight itself.  The fight, which was probably a very good battle, is more or less summarized in a brief paragraph.  Disappointment #1.  The second fight is actually no more than Dawn's friend Beryl chasing a female warrior on quagga's (horses if you will).  Beryl jumps the woman while riding and they both fall to the ground, but the female warrior passes out upon hitting the ground.  Disappointment #2.  The fight with Dawn in an arena is against a hairy ape-like beast, not a female.  Major disappointment #3.

The only upside I guess is that I have an excellent quality copy of the book and it is part of the Bunduki series.  At least there will be references to fights between voluptuous, scantily-clad jungle women warriors.  I'll update again after I read the book, but it's doubtful I'll have a much different finding or opinion.

Have to reread Bunduki.  That said, Grab a JT's Ladies one and two. Have A LOT of fights from all his female characters except Betty Hardin.

Thanks c-mug.  I just started reading SFTQG.  I do enjoy reading about that deliciously evil and sexy warrior Priestess Charole.

Thanks colt.  I have all 3 of the JT's Ladies books.  It's been a while since I've read it, but my favorite was More JT's Ladies.

I will continue my search through more of JT's books - I'm closing in on 70 read/covered so far - in the hope of finding 1 or 2 more really nice catfight nuggets, even though I fear I've already come across the best ones.  I will also continue to report my findings.

Hey c-mug, I'll sell you my copy of More JT's Ladies at a special discount price of $499.99!

Wow, I just saw that price on Amazon too.  I can't believe that's the only current offering out there.  I bought my very good quality copy on Amazon a little over a year ago for $15.  That's even probably too high a price in hindsight since there's only one very good catfight between Rita Yarborough (from the Rapido Clint books) vs. Cora Ann in a hotel room.

I paid $30 for a very good/collectible version of Sacrifice for the Quagga God (the one I'm reading now).  That was paying a lot but I had a $25 gift card and the previous lowest price I had seen on Amazon was around $42-$45 - so I went for it.

I'm looking to order a couple more books right now - in the low to very low price range though.

P.S.  My original quick review of SFTQG hasn't really changed and I'm now just a few chapters away from finishing the book.  I'd say the fight between Charole and the Mun-Gatah warrior woman Dolvia is slightly better than I first reported, mainly because there is a little more discussion of the fight afterward, describing what they wore etc. (which was just brief panties).

Might check ebay.  Bought several over the years and even with shipping was $20.00 or less.

Knew Edson's books had gotten more pricey, didn't realize THAT pricey.  Thanks for the warning.  Was the publisher CORGI?  They always went higher. Not sure why

Just received 5 more of JT's books - The Man From Texas, Texas Teamwork, Arizona Gun Law, The Fast Gun, and Ole Devil's Hands And Feet. A quick check revealed there are at least 3 catfights.  Quality appears to be average.  Will update as I go through them.

It's insane to see some of the prices on JT's books.  I don' get it, even for "collectible" versions, his works are not anything classic.  Can their really be a market out there for something this ridiculous?  Would anyone actually pay a crazy pice like that?
