You'd have to read Bad Hombre to actually believe it, CoffeMug.  I've read 80 of his books so far and this, my friend, is the weirdest by far!!  It's a mixture of creepy and comical, but mostly creepy and disturbing.  JTE was certainly a real odd dude.

I'm now reading, thankfully, my last book in the Rockabye County series that's known to have a catfight - The Sheriff of Rockabye County.  It does have a pretty good catfight near then end involving Alice Fayde.  I'll report on when I've finished the book.

Just confirming that there is indeed a nice fight near the end of The Sherriff of Rockabye County between deputy Alice Fayde and the bad girl Sharon.  Sharon is part of a group trying to rob rich guests at an apartment wrestling party (way to go JT with working in your fantasies as a major part of the crime element of the book).  The robbery is stopped of course and Alice, who is working undercover as one of the wrestlers, catches up with Sharon in an adjoining apartment.  Sharon, dressed only in sexy panties and a see-through nightie, is incensed at being caught and she attacks Alice who is wearing only a sexy bikini.  Their tops quickly come off.  It's a very even and sexy fight.  The description is very good, but my only regret is I wished it would have been a longer fight.  If so, it could have been one of my JT favorites.  There is also an apartment wrestling match early in the book between Sharon and another experienced female wrestler named Marla.  This is a pretty good too as it's more catfight than wrestling and again, if I recall correctly, their tops come off early.

This finishes my reading of books from the Rockabye County series, thankfully.  The remaining books from this series that I have not yet read have been identified by several others here as not having any catfights.  Many of the plots in this series are goofy and off-beat, and the books are full of JT's political view comments about "liberals" and all of his criminals seem to be "hopped up on drugs".  I definitely prefer his earlier westerns and the catfights in those books.  I may be coming to the end of the line there too, having read as many books as I have, so unless I stumble on a real catfight nugget that has not yet been discovered, you probably won't see any more reviews from me here.  I hope it's been beneficial for me to have posted so many reviews here for others to note in hunting for JT's books.

"The busty blonde and the equally well-endowed brunette, both skilled in savate and wearing dresses of startling décolleté, rushed at each other, each aiming to render her opponent hors de combat.  The bartender let the fight go on because it would drum up business.  And then half an hour later a liberal confirmed woman-hater broke up the female brawl by agitating the local Negroes, who were usually docile and knew their place."

Alvin Fog , Texas Ranger, has two fights in it as well. Both the same ladies but one done in front of a group of Mexican nationals, took place in Mexico, the bad guy was tring to impress. good descritions in both.

Thanks colt - Alvin Fog, Texas Ranger is one of the few available books I've not read yet.  I'll look to pick up a copy.

floon - I think you were referring to my The Sheriff of Rockabye County post re Alice vs. Sharon.  Not sure what you're asking, but if it's to scan in pages or sections from the book etc., then sorry but I'm not going to do that.  The purpose of my posts, which cover about 75 books in this thread, has been mainly to report from my own readings on which JTE books had catfights, or not, and to give an indication of what I thought was the quality level of those catfights.  Hopefully that has been helpful input to readers in making JTE book choices.

The JTE book I'm reading currently is "Is-A-Man".  There's a catfight in there, a multi-girl battle with a white girls vs. several Indian girls, but I don't think it's that exciting.  There's also a lady wrestling troupe in the story, but unfortunately not much happens with them.

Is-A-Man was a way to introduce the down the road woman Lon Yasbel would marry.  Not a great fight setup.

Hey colt45, I just picked up a copy of Alvin Fog, Texas Ranger, and there are no catfights.  I haven't read the book, but I flipped through all the pages one by one, twice and there's hardly even a mention of a female character.  Can you re-check this one please?  I think you have the wrong title for the book you're thinking of with the two catfights and I'd like to find the right book.  Thanks in advance.

For those still looking for JT books with catfights, Is A Man, has a multi-girl brawl between captive white woman Becky Ingraham and 5 Indian squaws.  The description runs a few pages and it's okay, but not to my liking.  I also picked up JT's Hundreth, which is over 400 pages.  It's usually way too pricey, but I found a copy for $4.  Only 1 catfight in all of that, but it's a pretty good one between Belle Starr and a woman named Arlette.  It takes place in a hotel room and it's an even, back and forth affair.  Both women end up topless and Arlette ends up totally nude.  The only drawback for me is that the description only lasts a couple pages with a lot of the action summarized.

I'll check again Maine but almost sure the title is right.  Most of Edson's book were retitled from the original corgi publications in the states. Will check

Thanks colt.  The version I just picked up is "Alvin Fog, Texas Ranger" published by Dell.  The book was originally published in Great Britain under the title "You're a Texas Ranger, Alvin" Fog by Corgi Books.  Copyright is 1979.  I went through all 180 pages of the book version I have and there are definitely no catfights, unless I'm really losing it.  I can't imagine the Corgi version had two catfights that were cut out in the Dell version.  Something is amiss somewhere.  Thanks again for re-checking.  I'll stay tuned for what you come up with.

Haven't read it, but the girl on the cover looks like she enjoys a good fight.

Ok, try Rapido Clint.  That one has two in it. One in brothel and one as entertainment for a bunch of outlaws. Sorry, got confused.  Happens as you get older.
