Slip gun is also one of my favorites, along with Ranch War, Quiet Town, The Trouble Busters and Back to the Bloody Border.  Hell in the Palo Doro is very good too.  I don't have The Fast Gun yet so I can't comment on that one.  Terror Valley is okay, and The Quest for Bowie's Blade is good, but not as good as those others, at least for me.  I agree totally with coachzzz's take on Slip Gun as well.

I'm reading Rapido Clint now and will give an update on that one soon.  It does have a catfight.  It's also set in Texas along the border but in a different era than the earlier westerns - it's in the early 1920's, during prohibition.

coffeemug - I will certainly check out the other Kim stories on seaking's site and provide feedback.  Thanks for the tip re by years.  I just finished reading A Matter of Honor too!  The fight wasn't bad, though I didn't like that 3 women were involved and that it was in front of a crowd.  I wish the horse chase between Belle and Mary later on had become a bare hands catfight rather than a brief shootout.

Under CIVIL WAR SERIES, The Rebel Spy--this one has a very important catfight;  Belle Boyd vs Belle Starr, fighting just to establish which is the better fighter.

Whoa, whoa.  I need confirmation of this important revelation, please.  Are you sure you aren't referring to the fight between the two Belles in The Quest for Bowie's Blade?

It is "The Quest for Bowie's Blade" that has the fight between the Belles.   "Rebel Spy" has a prize fight (boxing plus wrestling holds, etc.) between Belle Boyd and a English fighter named Flo.  It's a pretty decent battle that lasts about 6 pages.

cosette - try going to this link "chttp://bcatfightcollectors.runboard.com/t3322,offset=40" at the Catfight Collectors Runboard site.  This is page 5 of a long thread on JT Edson catfights.  The list on this page will update you on some of the books you've listed under "no information".   My contributions are under "donp1950" there.  You will have to register but that only takes a minute.

Will provide an update on Rapido Clint here shortly.

I just finished reading Rapido Clint.   While maybe not one of my current top 5 favorites, the female fight in this one is very good.  It's between Rita Ansell (real name is Rita Yarborough) and Daisy Extall, both "employees" of the Premier Chicken Ranch in El Paso. The time period is the early 1920's, so it's of course a different cast of characters than the stories from the 1860's etc.  Rita and Daisy start fighting right away in the first chapter, but the fight is stopped with the intention of letting them fight later on.  That fight comes in the form of entertainment in Mexico at the hacienda of a wealthy criminal who has escaped from New York.  The fight is very even and the description runs about 4 1/2 pages.  They both end up topless and clad only in G-strings about mid-way through the fight.  Interestingly, to a point, the wealthy criminal has a fetish for women fighting and he has a series of commissioned, well-done paintings of women fighting.  That's exciting, until it gets a bit corny and very unrealistic when the paintings are about some of the fights in JT's books, even ones that would be certainly lesser none.  That aside, there is quite a bit of dialog in the book regarding women fighting which adds to making this book above average in my view.

I'm currently reading To Arms! To Arms in Dixie!  I could be wrong, buy in flipping through the book, I can't find any catfights.  So this one may be an addition to the "No Fight" list.  I'll update in another week or so.

On maine's recommendation, I read Rapido Clint.  I liked the build-up and fight quite a bit (although I'm not spoiling anything to say it continues Edson's "everyone has an alias" thing).  It was cheap on Amazon, too, and qualified for Amazon Prime.  Definitely recommended.

I agree.   I had marked Rapido Clint as one which had a fight scene, but had honestly not read it.  I went back and read both the small scuffle at the beginning of the book and then the big fight later, and it is quite good.

One other point to make.   The same character (Rita) is featured in a long battle vs. a blonde named Cora-Ann in the book More J.T.'s Ladies, which is a collection of shorter stories (30-40 pages per story).  The story with Rita is called "Behind a Locked and Bolted Door".   It is a multiple page battle between equals which was very enjoyable.   I did not find any other scenes in the other stories in the book (I think), but the one I mentioned was worth it from my point of view.

Thanks for the tip coach re More JT's Ladies.  I've just added it to my "get" list.  I have JT's Ladies and JT's Ladies Ride Again but haven't read them yet.  I've 10 books in the queue and they are 2 of them.  I have to say though, in skimming through those 2 books, I felt disappointed in that I was expecting multiple girl fight stories but there only seems to be a couple that are pretty good.  I was expecting more.  I will be reading one of them shortly and will give my view here in an update.

As to Rapido Cint, there are 2 more books in that series that supposedly contain catfights, and Rita Yarborough is in both books.  The titles are "Rapido Strikes Again" and "The Return of Rapido Clint and Mr. J. G. Reeder".   I don't have either book yet, but I'm optimistic that they might both contain pretty good catfights.  Whoever has or gets them first can hopefully provide an update here.

Just confirming - no catfights in To Arms! To Arms in Dixie!.  It's a Belle Boyd post-Civil War book.  There are only 2 other women even mentioned in the book, in minor roles.  The story itself kind of rambles and gets bogged down by a little too much detail.

I'm currently reading J T's Ladies.  This one's probably fairly well known.  If not, well it's several short stories featuring some of JT's leading female characters.  There are at least 2 catfights, with 1 of them being decent, but no apparent classic fights in the series.  I'll give a little more detail later.

Interesting that the only way Belle Boyd can avoid a catfight is to not be around other women.

Sounds about right.

I know - and it was certainly surprising to read a Belle Boyd book without her being in a catfight!
