« on: March 08, 2014, 06:25:06 PM »
I have read rumors that Gina Carano will come out of retirement and fight in the UFC. Who would you like to see her fight?

Gina Carano

{alt}
{alt}

Ronda Rousey
{alt}

Miesha Tate

Holly Holm
{alt}
{alt}
{alt}

Cat Zingano

{alt}

I would love to see her fight Holly Holm.

The brutal truth:  She has not fought in a long time. At the beginning Gina has no chance of winning Ronda Rousey or Cat Zingano. Grief cool girl, because the  fight will have a similar effect like with Cyborg. Therefore, after the long preparation and sparrings, in the first fight I see Gina Carano vs Rosi Sexton. After such a long break, Rosi will be worthy and difficult rival for Gina. After winning first match Gina will be able to fight against Miesha Tate. I hope Gina will win but I think chances will be equal. Gina victory would be a start successful in the next stage her career in MMA. Gina will need to fight many times, before she will be able fight against Ronda.

Honestly, I don't see any of the current women beating Rousey...she's that far above them in talent, training, preparation, etc.

IF you want to see Carano fight, let her work her way up (from the middle of) the rankings. At least that way there MAY be a market for her fights. Throwing her in with Rousey right off would be mis-management (and unlikely to even get sanctioned).

FALLBACK POSITION: Do a movie with Rousey-Carano, both of who have name recognition and who could plausibly anchor a franchise as good/bad gals tangling every so often (think Bond-Jaws as an example). It'd be more entertaining and more lucrative for both women.

Of course....I could be wrong.

Rousey was in the 145 class until she ducked Cyborg and moved to 135 for a title shot.

Gina is not making 135, the end. Work on acting and keep making that movie money.

Doing 2-3 fights is even worse. That's a year or so of training and missing paydays. If you're going to go in there and get armbarred and get a check that's one thing but stopping to fight... Liz Carmouche or whatever... what happens if you lose?

She was the top contender at 145, while Cyborg was champ, and dropped to fight for the 135 belt instead of staying at 145 to fight Cyborg.  Ducked, ran, avoided, and didn't say a peep about Cyborg until after Santos was out of Strikeforce/UFC.

That's not really true.  Ronda called out Cyborg after she beat Meisha Tate the first time.

It's absolutely true.  Rousey had never fought at 135 prior to the title fight.

Don't remember Rousey calling her out.  Just remember her finally mentioning Cyborg once the PED suspension hit.  Rousey did Judo at 154, went to Strikeforce at 145, and when the title opportunity came she dropped to 135 and said she would not go back up to 145 to fight Cyborg.  Can't really blame her, Cyborg walks around at a much heavier weight, has a standup game unlike anything Rousey has seen (Muay Thai black belt), and is by far the best ground opponent Rousey would face (BJJ brown belt).  Rousey is a master at self promotion and a very good fighter who has had the luck/wisdom to get as far away as possible from the only person right now with a legit chance to beat her.

Good points Leroy. I remember her talking crap about cyborg failing a drug test. As soon as she won the 135 lb title against Tate, she called out Cyborg to fight at 135 knowing that cyborg who walks around at 170-180 and has had trouble cutting down to 145 (the PED she took was to help her cut weight) would probably never be able to make it to 135.
It's great to see the interest a lot of people have on this site about the WMMA. I thank everyone for voting and expressing your comments.
