CHAPTER 1
Shortly after Kittysosweet graduated from high school, she learned something which made her angry.  She learned that her high school brunette volleyball rival, Lori, had lived on the other side of Addison Park for the past 8 years.  Knowing this sure would have come in handy sophomore year, when one afternoon in gym class Lori had chucked a dodge ball direct at Kitty's face when Kitty wasn't looking.  Kitty would have been within her right to demand an after school girlfight, but it just didn't seem worth the hassle to make arrangements.  Now, 4 years later, she found out that the 2 should-have-been-combatants had lived on opposite ends of the town's most frequent girlfight venue.  She was aggravated.

CHAPTER 2
Instead, Kitty and Lori had just let the cheapshot go, and gave each other wide berth until high school was over.  Then, Lori became the assistant volleyball coach at Villa High School, and Kitty went away to college.  The first summer back from school, Kitty returned to town and attended a reunion-style party amongst former school athletes.  Kitty was catching up with some volleyball underclassmen, and was mildly surprised to hear that their new mentor was none other than Lori, who was still living at home across from Addison Park.  Kitty was still half-willing to let bygones be bygones with Lori, but the Addison Park opportunity raised her hackles a bit, and escalated what came next.

CHAPTER 3
As the reunion party was gearing up, Kitty found herself face-to-face with Coach Lori, who couldn't help asserting her status.  "Well, if it isn't Kitty.  Are you continuing your volleyball career at college, or did you have to give it up?"
"I didn't HAVE to do anything, Lori, Kitty huffed.  "I CHOSE to focus on academics.  I aspire to more than high school gym teacher."
"That's presumptuous of you to assume that's what I aspire to.  But you always were on the aloof side."
Kitty now got in Lori's face, "I was aloof with you, bitch, because we never got along and I wanted to keep the peace for the volleyball team.  Do you have something to say to me?"
Lori, "I've got plenty.  Wanna do this here or in private?  Because I have the key to the school gym if you wanna go there.  Say, in 3 hours?"
Kitty: " You better show."

CHAPTER 4
Kitty stormed home, went to her childhood bathroom, and decided how she should dress for the impending showdown.  As she was deciding, she looked out the window to Addison Park.  She had witnessed a handful of afterschool girlfights, and in fact had been a combatant in one against a girl named Kelly.  Kitty and Kelly actually didn't have a beef with each other, but had been innocent third parties in some hearsay gossip.  Consequently, their fight was somewhat half-hearted.  Some hairpulling, a pause to fix clothes and hair, a round 2, and a punctuated round 3.  No winner or loser, just enough action for each girl to save face.
Kitty knew if she ever faced Lori, the result would be quite different.

CHAPTER 5
And because high school had come and gone without an Addison Park showdown with Lori, now they were facing each other as full-grown independent women.  Some face-saving rolling around was not in the cards this evening.  In fact, there was no way of controlling the course of events.  Just 2 athletic women who didn't like each other, and who needed to decide their high school hierarchy before getting on with their adult lives.
So Kitty, naturally, proceeded to put on her high school volleyball uniform.  She then got in her car and headed to the high school.

CHAPTER 6
When Kitty pulled up to the high school gym, she had another reason to be aggravated.  She knew the only car in the lot would be Lori's.  And what was it?  A shiny, new, black Lexus.  So, while Kitty was at school racking up student debt, Lori was living at home, earning a paycheck, and buying new "things".  Just great, thought Kitty, super.
The back entrance to the gym was open, and Kitty half-thought to be on the lookout for getting jumped.  But, no, she decided; Lori wouldn't risk her job by committing an unprovoked assault at her workplace.

CHAPTER 7
But Kitty was wrong.  As she was headed to the volleyball lockerroom, she passed the athletic department sauna, which was used by athletes from all sports for rehab and therapy purposes.  Before she could react, the door opened, she was pulled in by her wrists, the door was locked behind her, and her head and face we're being pummeled by fists.  Kitty tried to create space to get oriented, but the dim lighting of the sauna was too much of a contact with the outdoor summer twilight.  Fortunately, her left jab was sufficiently tough to find Lori's jaw and nose a few times, and Lori backed off.  She was, also, wearing a high school volleyball uniform.

CHAPTER 8
"Why are you wearing that," asked a mystified Kitty.
"I don't want to get your blood on anything of mine, so I found that in the lockerroom laundry and threw it on," confessed an energized Lori.
"And the sauna idea?" asked Kitty.
"High school has changed since you were here, genius," replied Lori.  "Cameras pretty much everywhere.  Except the sauna."
After a 30 second breather, Kitty asked, "So, the idea is we get all sweaty and beat the crap out of each other in a 10-degree sauna?  Just because I'm not a volleyball player anymore doesn't mean I can't beat you at that game."

CHAPTER 9
Regardless of her original plan, an emboldened Lori took a boxing position and replied, "Let's see."
Kitty and Lori approached each other and traded hard-but-controlled punches to their faces and sides.  They also, at Kitty's lead, began to swap kicks to each others' midsections, and progressively, lower into each others' crotches, which were becoming more distinctly outlined in the sweat-inducing conditions.  Their desperate grunts echoed within the enclosed sauna, and both women were in terrible pain.

CHAPTER 10
Kitty had let Lori dictate the conditions during the entire afternoon.  She decided that would end now.  Grabbing a full handful of sweaty brunette hair, Kitty drove Lori's head into the sauna's wood bench.  This caused huge slivers of splintered wood to enter into Lori's forehead and Kitty's hands.  Both Lori and Kitty passed out.  Their next memory was of Head Volleyball Coach Williams unlocking the sauna door.
"Well, well.  Lori and Kitty finally finishing what should have been finished in high school."

CHAPTER 11
Coach Loretta Williams had been the head high school volleyball coach for years.  She had kept both Kitty and Lori on the team for four years, despite their mutual animosity, in the hopes of witnessing the brutal spectacle which had now finally commenced.  She had gotten wind of the challenge which was issued at the reunion party, and came to enjoy the show.  Just in time.

CHAPTER 12
"You ladies had the right idea," said Coach Williams.  "But you made two mistakes.  One, every athletic contest needs an audience.  That will be me.  And two.  No foreign objects.  You two finish this right now.  On the mats."
Coach Williams paraded the sweaty, bloodied Kitty and Lori to the gym wrestling mats.

CHAPTER 13
Lori and Kitty squared off, ready to begin their next round.  Coach Williams interceded, "Keep in mind, Coach Lori, I don't employ losers.  If you lose, you're fired.  And you'll never coach in any sport in this state ever again."
"And if this bitch Kitty loses," asked Lori.
"Kitty,if you lose this fight to Lori, she and I will report you to the police for breaking into and damaging this school.  You'll have a permanent criminal record."
"Now, ladies," said Coach Williams, "take as long as you need to finish this fight."

CHAPTER 14
Coach Williams' new "stipulations" gave a shot of adrenaline to both Kitty and Lori.  They resumed their kickboxing-style bout, buy this time less constrained by poor lighting and tight quarters.  Kitty's kicks were highly accurate and effective, inducing painful grunts and whimpers from Lori.  Lori feared a crotch attack from Kitty's knees and elbows, and did everything she could to stay standing.  She also still had an effective left jab to prevent Kitty from lining up a clean knockout blow. 
The 2 women clinched, their faces locking together.  They hissed vicious insults at each other, knowing that one would leave tonight with a ruined future.
