Typical Cost of Commissioned work
« on: May 25, 2021, 07:34:55 PM »
I was recently thinking of getting a commissioned artwork done but I wanted to see what other people have paid for in the past.  In my head I think a lot of this would cost well over $1,250 if I wanted a 25 image series story told.

Right now there’s a story I like but it appears everytime someone tries to tell it there’s always a creative difference in the mix somewhere whether it be rules or something.

Anyone have any experience with custom commissioned work, if so how much did it run you, how long was your work you requested.

I don't have experience with commisions, but it deppends of the time, the materials that you use and your style, for example, one artist has her price list:

$100 one character
$40 every aditional character
$60 a complex background

That’s $6,500 if my math is correct.  Holy cow.

$100x2=$200+$60=$260 for one image and then to get to 25 you’d be at $6,500. Holy cow.  Guess I’ll be sticking to the people who sell these on lulu and hope someone has similar tastes.

this artist makes one panel page draws, and that is her price, but is 140 (the second character is $40) and a total of your maths is $ 5,000

It really depends on the style you are looking for and the artist.
I have recently been commissioning many drawings, a new comic will be out soon.

From my experience I see that you can find many different prices, it depends on what you are looking for, then if the work is very long, like 25 pages, it may well be that the price for the whole work is lower than that calculated on each single drawing.

I don't consider myself a great draftsman, I usually charge around 20-25 dollars per panel drawn in color.

On hentaifoundry you will find a forum dedicated to commissions, also on devianart you can find many artists who make commissions.

I hope I was helpful.

bye Bye

It varies; a lot depends on what you are looking for, and how detailed/high quality you want the work to be. First rate art, nicely inked, colored and shaded with backgrounds can cost $150 per pose; simple cell shading, no backgrounds, knocks that way down; just pencils, even cheaper. You CAN, if you are lucky, find an artist to do some decent colored drawings for $15-25 per pose.
"Raz", who advertises his comic stories on this forum, works at about that range, for colored art.

You can get excellent commission catfight art from Raz, in Italy,  for $50 or $60.   He bills thru PayPal in euros.  You cat get the catalog via milcre@tiscali.it.  Or just enter  Raz catfight art catalog, it should come up.   He  is one the best, comparable to Brosean.  I commissioned a  multi-frame  strip about  a genie catfight.  It's now in the catalog.   I attached one of his cartoons.
